Top 10 Best Places to Study Engineering and Technology in Europe
Summary and Methodology
To find out which destinations get the highest scores from students for their engineering and technology degrees, we first filtered EDUopinions student reviews by the category Engineering and Technology, leaving just reviews posted for courses in this subject area. The below ranking is based on data from 2023, so all reviews were posted between January 1st 2023 and December 31st 2023.
We then excluded countries of study that had less than 10 student reviews for programmes.
Finally, we ranked the remaning European countries by the ‘overall’ rating they received from reviewers. The overall rating takes into account a students’ experience at their university, on their specific course, and other factors such as the application process, student life, and the perceived value of the course.
So, these are the top ten best places to study engineering and technology in Europe in 2025.
10. Romania (3.86/5 Rating)

Romania may not be your first choice of study destination, but this large Balkan country is home to three universities that feature in rankings of engineering universities: the University of Bucharest, Babes-Bolyai University, and the University Politehnica of Bucharest.
Student reviewers give engineering and technology degrees in Romania a higher overall score than programmes in Germany and Portugal. This is partly down to a higher value for money rating—living costs are far lower in Romanian cities than other European cities.
Student Review – AUtomation and Applied Informatics Student at Technical University of Cluj-Napoca
The curriculum is pretty decent. I think they have way too many classes, but overall they’re not bad. A lot of laboratories and practical experience, which is nice. There are a lot of Erasmus agreements, Bosch teaching their self-driving cars course, entrepreneurship classes. Pretty diverse extracurricular themes.
EUROAVIA was the student association that I loved the most because they had a lot of interesting events. Visiting the Air Traffic Control Tower at Cluj Airport, the military base at Câmpia Turzii or the Airbus maintenance workshop, you have a lot of aviation-related events to go to.
Student Review – Architecture and Civil Engineeringat Polytechnic University of Timisoara
In these last 3 years, my University helped me a lot developing my skills, learning about my degree and gave me such good educational opportunities – like internships in other countries and EUDRES events that improved our connection with other universities from Romania and Europe.
9. Spain (3.92/5 Rating)

Spain has long been a top destination for students, and the country also boasts some top universities for STEM studies—four Spanish institutions feature in the top 200 of the QS best engineering universities in the world ranking. One of the universities on that ranking, Universidad Politécnica de Valencia, receives an overall rating of 4.2/5 by student reviewers, while both the Universitat de Barcelona and Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya receive a 4.0/5.
Student Review – Aerospace ENgineering at Universidad Politécnica de Valencia
The best of the university are all the services for the student body: entertainment venues, free sports, several study rooms… There are facilities for carrying out a lot of activities and student projects are encouraged.
Regarding studies, they are better or worse depending on the school or the specific grade. In my specific case, aerospace engineering, there are several things regarding the study plan that could be improved, but in general it is a very good option to pursue this degree.
Student Review – Industrial Engineering at Universitat de Barcelona
Overall, it was a great experience. As for my major in Industrial Design, my professors are always open to helping me when I’m having a hard time with something. Tutoring and volunteers have been great and I would love to use it more. When I needed to call for financial aid information, they were very helpful and made sure I got the answers to my questions.
8. Poland (3.95/5 Rating)

Poland is one of the most affordable destinations for study in Europe, and given the high salaries for graduates of engineering and technology, this makes it a great value study destination for these subjects.
Engineering and technology students particularly rate university locations and career prospects for their studies in Poland. Warsaw University of Technology is the highest-ranked university for engineering and technology in the country; EDUopinions reviewers rate this institution 4.0/5.
Student Review – Electrical Engineering at Warsaw University of Technology
The educational environment created by Warsaw University of Technology encourages students to work on creative projects in order to advance overall personality development and the growth of future engineers. It is a top-notch educational facility. One of the top departments in all of Poland, the department where I’m studying also has a stellar reputation across the continent of Europe.
Student Review – Computer Engineering at Vistula University
I like and appreciate how the university tries to invite many companies and corporations into the universities so they may recruit new students to help them within their field and further their careers. however what I dislike is the lack of organisation at times. I’ve heard many students complain that it takes more than 1 to 2 weeks to receive an email of their complaint and another issue is in regards to the deans office at times is getting very crowded and at times students are unable to enter due to the crowded line. I wish the university was more organised in these certain things because you could be a whole day within the line and not be able to resolve your issue.
7. Italy (4.06/5 Rating)

Italy is home to some of the best universities in the world, including Politecnico di Milano, which ranks 23rd on the QS Subject Rankings for engineering. Politecnico di Milano attracts students from all over the world who want to immerse themselves in an rigorous academic environment and high-impact research projects.
Unfortunately, Italian engineering degrees get the lowest rating on this ranking from EDUopinions reviewers for the quality of accommodation. However, they make up for it with a significantly high score for professors, which makes sense given the prestige of technical universities in this country.
Student Review – Aerospace Engineering at Università di Pisa
The University of Pisa is one of the best university from a theoretical point of view, but it does not adequately introduce you to the world of work. The exams are hard, really challenging, and sometimes the credits associated with the exam itself are not enough, but the satisfaction of learning something new in detail and achieving a goal is priceless. Despite this the university provides workshops to improve everyone’s soft skills, there are projects related to Engineering courses, there is a lot of cultural diversity and the professors are experts in their fields.
Lastly the city is small, calm and cheap.
Student Review – Space Engineering At Sapienza – Università di Roma
I think one of the best aspects od sapienza is its international community of students that makes the student life very enjoyable.
There are various campuses based on the Faculty you attend and the city is not well conected so it’s better to live close to the subway or in student neighborhoods.
Both the bachelor’s and the master’s degrees are highly theoretical, which on one hand, encourages students to take learning seriously and ask quetions. However, some programs lack the practical part needed to complete the understanding of the theoratical one. Proffesors are also very open to helping students in their learning path. The exams might be a bit difficult, especially for international students who are not used to a more theoratical approach, and it definitely requires a lot of studying.
Overall, it is a very good university with a lot of courses and definitely, a lot of opportunitues
