Throughout my four years at Glasgow I have to say I loved 99.9% of it – as the University has four student unions and hundreds of social and sports clubs, it’s super easy to get involved in clubs, societies or volunteering work that suits you! I made a ton of friends right off the bat in Queen Margaret Residences, but there were opportunities to expand your horizons and get involved with other clubs for as long as you’re at the uni – and even beyond! Lecturers were super friendly and approachable on the whole and would respond to queries really quickly (at least on the Zoology course). Lots of opportunities for both intra- and extra-curricular trips, I even found myself doing my dissertation research in the Caribbean for 9 weeks through the Exploration Society! The one downer for me was Glasgow’s reaction to the UCU marking boycott – we’ve still not received our final degree results even though we graduated in June as Glasgow won’t negotiate with the union 🙁 However, right up until then I had no complaints!
View moreStudying at University of Glasgow is one of the best decisions I have made. I like that the university offers flexible degrees, meaning you can take multiple subjects in your first two years before focusing on your degree subject. There are a wide variety of subjects offered, all taught by friendly and knowledgable staff. The courses are always intellectually stimulating and well-taught. The campus is also beautiful, with ancient buildings and also modern ones. There is a subway nearby and many nice shops in Glasgow’s west end. Students from all over the world come to study here, and meeting fellow students has exposed me to new cultures and a diverse group of people. I would highly recommend studying here.
View moreThe University of Glasgow provides a high-quality international education. There are classes offered on a variety of topics, even those you have never thought of! The professors are diverse and have strong academic backgrounds. They are eager to help and will push you to think critically. Glasgow city offers a great balance of social activities but it is still intimate and comfortable. The university is well-located and plays a big part of Glasgow life. You will find countless study spaces at UofG, including the new Learning Hub. Students are all welcoming and friendly. I felt at home from the first week as there are many orientation activities to meet other people. My experience at UofG has been great. Studying here has definitely helped my careers prospects.
View morethe lectures and seminars are insightful and up-to-date with modern cultural, political and social events. The course I am speaking of is the MA theatre studies degree in which we learn about theatre practitioners, theories of theatre making and putting it into practice by devising. This being said oftentimes it can feel as if the lecture or tutor feels uncomfortable or out of depth when talking about certain issues of racism in theatre, or other cultures and their theatrical practices given the fact that majority of the teachers are of White European decent.
View moreOne thing I like about my lectures Is the level of knowledge and expertise, doing a business degree and having lectures who have had businesses gives me real insight knowledge which I find useful for assignments.
View moretbh, I love Glasgow more than my university. Glasgow is the first city I would like to live here permanently. People living here are kind and welcoming, but there are shortages in this city. Weather and job opportunities. As for my uni, there are tooooo many Chinese in my every classes. It makes me feel I am in a China uni, like I am not on abroad.
View moreThis University has a prestigious reputation and I feel in actuality it only partially lives up to this. While a lovely scenic campus and an extensive library with 12 floors it still lacks in communication. This is one of the few things which I believe is a flaw with this university. When you email a member of staff for help or a query you are typically left waiting days and days until you receive a reply, by which point you have had to sort it out yourself or the problem has grown. I also think that feedback on work is sometimes lacking. I would appreciate more feedback on a piece of work on what I can improve and what I should continue to do but usually it is just generic feedback for the full class. Despite these small flaws, the university earns its prestigious title with their challenging classes and engaging tutorials where you can really delve into a topic and explore it from all angles. The wide international student population also allows for new experiences and mixing with people who you have not before and it gives you a complete different view of the world and the different cultures and lives out there.
View moreGreat people and a beautiful university with loads of learning opportunities to grow. A place to explore, learn and find your true passion. I am looking forward to work as with luxury brands in their sustainability practises which I discovered in the uni that I have such inclination
