One thing I likes about this course were the mandatory courses. These were very specific to media, communications and journalism, and I found them very interesting. The range of theories and topics covered were very enlightening from a sociological angle. One particular course titled ‘writing news’ was very enjoyable. In a group, we had to write a produce two newspaper articles into a broader newspaper template that represented our group’s aims and interests. One thing I didn’t like about this course overall were the limited course options we could choose from to make up our credits. Some courses were offered on the enrolment selection, however, when you went to select them they were only available to students doing a particular degree e.g., politics. This was very disheartening as it meant some of the courses I initially had hoped to do were not available to me, so I felt a little frustrated that they were even displayed as an option. The reality was that there were a very limited number, of course, we could actually choose and I would have appreciated it if this was made more transparent from the beginning. Overall, however, I would say I am quite happy with the majority of the aspects of this course.
