    The key to the future

With the exponential increase in population and pollution levels, the engineering practices around the world are shifting towards a sustainable trend. All the branches of engineering and technology are currently preparing for this paradigm shift. A career in Sustainability and Sustainable Energy therefore opens the door to endless opportunities and what else would be better than pursuing a master’s in Sustainable Energy at a Russell’s group institution like the University of Glasgow?. The programme offers advanced courses on renewable energy sources and energy conversion systems along with very diverse range of electives like environmental biotechnology, nuclear power reactors, electrical energy systems, power electronics and so on, making it a subject of interdisciplinary nature. So, students with a background in any branch of engineering could pursue a career in Sustainability with this course. The graduates of this course can work at various positions like research analyst, research assistant, hydroelectric power engineer, sustainability consultant and so on. Also, even though the programme has its roots from various branches of engineering, the mode of delivery of the content has been pristine and the concepts were made crystal clear by the faculties. I would personally recommend this course to anyone who wishes to pursue a career in renewable energy.

    The course content and assessment

The course is rigorous, introducing all the basic concepts in my field and giving all the opportunities to make the best out of it; however, I would like to point out the blended approach is not quite effective for such a course. Also, I think the assessment methods for most courses solely being dependant on a single assignment doesn’t fully explore the understanding of the subject by a student.
