University of the People (UoPeople) is an American non-profit distance learning institution of higher education that offers undergraduate and graduate degrees.
Personally for me, it’s been a wonderful online learning experience. We get our learning materials and resources at the beginning of each term and we are expected to participate in the registered course every week. All students get a new assignment, reading material, and quiz every Thursday and we are expected to meet the submission deadline which is next week Wednesday.. All students participate in the discussions forum where we are able to relate and share ideas with course mates, instructors and also grade their input in the discussion. The mode of assessment is Peer assessment or self-assessment. A process whereby students or their peers grade assignments or tests based on a teacher’s benchmarks.
I would gladly recommend UoPeople to anyone looking for a structured distance learning experience. And be sure to do a background research on your own.
The University of the People (UoPeople) is a relatively new online university with partners such as Berkeley and NYU. They offer a low-cost degree through volunteers and open educational resources. You should be aware that you are asked to be an independent learner here. Every week, you are given about 70-100 pages of reading material per course about which you will write an essay, a discussion post, and a learning journal submission. Latter will be assessed by your instructor, the former two will be peer-graded. In addition, you will have two graded quizzes and one final exam per course per term. I would recommend the university, however, I would encourage you to find out for yourself if it is what you are looking for. Check out their website and get in touch with people or enroll in the foundation courses to find out if it suits your preferences.
In my opinion, this university is really great. It has so many faculties, so many subdivisions, connections and rich close relationship with other European high schools and universities. ...
