My experience with the University of the People has been very positive and rewarding. UoPeople has provided me with the opportunity to pursue my Bachelor of Business Administration while balancing my career and family responsibilities. The flexibility of online learning has been particularly valuable, allowing me to study at my own pace while continuing my professional development.

I have also appreciated the university’s diverse learning community, where students and instructors from different countries and backgrounds share ideas and experiences. Through discussion forums, peer assessments, assignments, and learning resources, I have gained new perspectives, strengthened my confidence, and learned how to apply academic knowledge to real-life situations.

I would like to see improvements in communication and response times when students require academic or administrative support. I would also welcome more career guidance, mentorship, internship opportunities, and stronger connections between students and employers.

Overall, UoPeople has played an important role in my personal, academic, and professional growth. I am grateful for the opportunity to continue my education through a flexible and accessible learning environment while managing my work and family responsibilities.

I started my journey at the University of the People in September 2021 and completed my undergraduate degree in 2026. Looking back, it was a long journey with many challenges, but it was also one of the most meaningful experiences of my life.

What stood out to me most was the flexibility of the online programme. Being able to study while working and managing other responsibilities made higher education possible for me. The courses helped me develop practical knowledge as well as skills in communication, research, critical thinking, teamwork, and time management.

I also enjoyed being part of an international learning community and interacting with students from different backgrounds. My experience as a UoPeople Ambassador gave me another opportunity to connect with students and contribute to the community.

There were certainly areas that could be improved, particularly communication, student support, and some administrative processes. However, overall, UoPeople gave me the opportunity to achieve something I worked toward for years. I am grateful for the journey and proud to be a graduate.

Remember, resilience and discipline are just as important as academic knowledge in this program.

​The tuition-free model is a lifesaver. You only pay relatively small assessment fees per course, which makes earning a degree genuinely affordable compared to traditional universities. The asynchronous schedule is also fantastic; it allowed me to balance my coursework with a full-time job and family responsibilities without feeling completely overwhelmed by rigid class times.
​The Bad: Peer Assessment and Self-Study
​However, prospective students should know what they are signing up for. Because it is an online, tuition-free model, you are largely teaching yourself from the reading materials.
​The biggest pain point is the peer-assessment system. Your weekly assignments are graded by three classmates. While the idea of peer learning is great on paper, the execution can be frustrating. You will occasionally get peers who do not read the grading rubrics properly, resulting in unfair grades that you have to constantly appeal to your instructor.
