My opinion is based on the Value-to-Investment ratio. For me, UoPeople is a game-changer. It’s a US-accredited institution that focuses on removing the financial barriers to education. It’s not about the ‘fancy campus’; it’s about high-quality curriculum and global standards. In the tech and data world, what matters most is your ability to deliver, and UoPeople provides the formal foundation to do exactly that.
What I like most is the flexibility. As someone who has moved between the UAE and Cameroon, being able to take my classroom with me in my pocket was essential. I also value the global diversity; I’m constantly collaborating with students from different cultures, which is exactly how international tech teams work.
If I have to be honest, the peer-assessment system can be a challenge. You are graded by your fellow students, and while there is instructor oversight, it requires you to be very patient and clear in your communication. It’s also very reading-intensive, you have to be a self-starter because no one is going to force you to do the work.
I would definitely recommend it, but specifically for self-motivated professionals. If you are looking for a degree that allows you to work full-time, avoid student debt, and gain a US-accredited credential, it’s a 10/10 choice. However, if you need a traditional classroom and a professor lecturing you in person, it might not be for you. For me, as a Data Analyst, it was the most logical choice for my career growth.

The international classroom was also a highlight; it was inspiring to engage with classmates from all walks of life and learn from their perspectives.
