View moreI am currently a M.Ed. student & have completed 2/3s of the program. I am pretty much taking my own time with only 1 course at any one time, & 4 courses per year.
The pros:
– low cost. The whole degree program will cost me <USD4k.
– can be done at my own pace & time
– provides a structured way to learn (rather than ad-hoc online courses which I tend to discontinue after a few sessions)
– courses are facilitated by volunteer faculty.
The cons:
– quality of fellow classmates' work may not be up to scratch. Unfortunately I see a lot of
– depends a lot on peer assessment, which may not be done properly by all classmates (related to earlier point)
– every course has a group work component, & you can't do much about it if a member plays dead.
My exciting journey with the University of the People started on July 15, 2023. I am doing the M.Ed programme. The programme is rigorous yet engaging. The assignments are super enriching and aligned with practical applications in the classroom. Therefore, it is not just a degree but a real-life learning. The instructors are extremely supportive. Moreover, the peer assessment structure makes me critical about my own learning and let me know where should I improve.
In one word, the programme, is opening new windows every week.
Joining a university is like getting married. Some of the marriages will end in tragedy, while others will become “they lived happily ever after”. I am currently about to finish my first year in this marriage and I couldn’t be any happier. I enjoy the attention and the commitment that my teachers have in my education, the friendship and comradery that my peers have shown me throughout the activities, and the reviews/feedback they provide on my work, and I love the fact that all of these things and many others can be achieved at a fraction of the cost of any other university. I still have one more year to go to finish my Master’s of Education in Advanced Teaching, but so far, so good!
View moreThe university of people is an innovation in the teaching process. They facilitate the academic studies and enables different type of students to complete their studies. It saves time and money. I highly advised to study in it.
