I love studying at the University of Glasgow, the teachers are great and the campus is so beautiful and great location. However, I could not enjoy it as it has been pretty much 12 months of online learning. I don’t know if it is university or external rules, but very disappointed that all clubs are open and still we barely had tutorials because of ‘COVID’. Also, I feel that the administration could improve a lot, the timetable is not accurate and constantly changing. On the other hand, the library is very good, it has so many floors and plenty of books. I also appreciated having many international students at my course from all over the World. Moreover, putting in your CV you studied at the University of Glasgow is something that businesses appreciate. There is a lot of Societies, it is a shame I could not take part in them because of the pandemic. If you study the MSc in Management and Sustainable Tourism I recommend taking the Sustainable Heritage module, very interesting and the teacher is very supportive. Overall, I recommend this course but I hope uni starts doing presential courses for students.
View moreBefore coming to Glasgow, I had 3.5 years of work experience in the national tourism sector. I don’t recommend those who have been already in the Tourism Industry or looking for further studies insights into sustainable tourism. This is because the first semester is theoretical classes about Business Management for all sectors and some courses are not practical for the tourism industry. Also, I am not sure for the second semester how business courses will synchronize with the tourism management aspects more in-depth.
View moreI feel disappointed with this program, especially in Adam smith business school. The class timetable is in a mess. Thousands of changes waste my time and I can’t schedule my own time. They do not work as a team. But the good thing is that I really meet lots of great people from all over the world.
View moreI would recommend my program with a bog joy however this year it was online due to covid and it is a bit stressful. But overall it is worth it.
I would suggest the university provide some English language preparation programmes. some master’s degree students still struggle writing academic works and mostly it makes some barrier in communication within the international community.
This MSc is the perfect diploma for those willing to be managers of tomorrow.
All the courses and cases studies are updated and are oriented towards resilient and sustainable businesses.
Professors are all experts in their respective fields and provide plenty of resources to succeed.
The cons to this diploma are the lack of communication, structure, and consistency between the administration, students, and professors in regards to the constantly changing timetable, for the tutorials and seminars.
Finally, they encouraged us to move to Glasgow because there would be in-class tutorials. We’ve only had one. And once the semester starters they announced us that all the other scheduled offline tutorials will switch to an online one.
The materials used by Adam Smith Business School professors are very insightful in understanding the different aspects of management but my favorite is the School of Interdisciplinary Studies at Dumfries, whose case approaches dive deeper into practical approaches to ensure sustainable development in tourism.
