Review of Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC)
My experience with UOC has been extremely disappointing due to a series of administrative errors and contradictory information provided by staff, which ultimately prevented me from applying to the Master’s in General Health Psychology.
After paying for the CAEP application, I was locked out of the campus for 10 days because of a mistake made by the university. When I contacted UOC by phone, I was assured that I would receive an extension to the application deadline and that the situation would be taken into account. I was told clearly that I would still be allowed to apply.
However, the information I received from different staff members was completely inconsistent. A professor on the forum told me I did not need the CAEP before applying, which contradicted what was written on the website. Another staff member told me over the phone that the documents I already had were sufficient. Only after doing my own research — because of these contradictions — did I discover that the CAEP accreditation was in fact required beforehand.
These conflicting instructions delayed my process by more than two months. As a result, I missed the next application round entirely, despite having acted in good faith and followed the guidance provided by UOC staff.
This situation has caused significant stress, wasted time, and unnecessary financial cost. It is unacceptable for a university to provide such inconsistent and misleading information, especially when it directly affects students’ academic progression.
I hope UOC takes responsibility for these errors and improves the clarity and reliability of its communication with prospective students.
View moreMy experience at UOC has been very satisfying thanks to a robust virtual campus and a continuous assessment model that keeps you engaged with the subjects throughout the entire semester. What stands out the most is the quality of the teaching materials and the autonomy the system grants you over your own learning, although I must admit this actually demands a high level of personal organization and commitment. The professors and tutors are generally very attentive and respond quickly, which effectively compensates for the lack of face-to-face interaction and ensures that the study process never feels isolating. Take into account, though, that it is a demanding academic path, but highly recommended for those seeking quality education with total schedule flexibility.
View moreI enjoyed studying Tourism online in UOC University, the program and the study system was really great and helped me to develop and learn new skills. The improvement area would be that I did not feel support with some classes, ie statistics, and as online universities were initiating I understand now the university is including practices and dynamics to facilitate the comprehension because they weren’t. I’d recommend UOC.
View moreAs the university is completely online (classes, exams), I really like this way of studying because I can study and work at the same time, and this is really valuable for me.
The only thing that I wish it had is to have online live classes because now everything is pre-recorded.
View moreMy opinion of the UOC is very positive. I chose this option to combine my work life with my studies. They provide great support, especially the professors. Before you start, they advise you on what is best for you and they accompany you in everything. The activities are very complete and you have many resources at your disposal. The only negative is the communication with the secretary and that you cannot talk on the phone.
