Stepping onto the UCONN campus for the first time coming from a small hometown, I was incredibly intimidated. As anyone who has visited UCONN can tell you, students are scurrying around, crossing the street, and entering one of several hundred buildings at all times of the day. To the freshmen who are on their own for the first time, the thought of finding their classes and walking in the wind, rain, and snow to class every day is challenging. However, almost immediately, every student is introduced to the slew of programs UCINN offers to make its students feel at home. The involvement fair lines Fairfield Way with over 700 student organizations that cater to every interest imaginable. Later in the year, on that same stretch of driveway, the school spirit is palpable as Dunkin hosts pep rallies to wish the women’s basketball team luck as they head off to the championship game. While going to school with thousands of students from all over the world is intimidating, UCONN welcomes each student and gives them a place on campus.
