What is a Management degree?

A Management degree builds a strong foundation in a wide variety of fields including business, finance, economics and marketing. It develops students’ understanding of business practices, structures, business theory, business strategy and research as well as global economies and financial markets. Doing a Management Degree also allows students to gain skills that enable them to work with financial and numerical data effectively.

Management degrees cover different managerial roles, such as Human Resource (HR) management, hospitality management, innovation management, operations management, etc. They can be specialized into one of the areas mentioned above or follow a more general approach that covers most of these areas.

The range of management degrees is huge and includes Business Management, Management, Marketing Management, etc. They are predominantly offered in the business departments/business schools/management schools of different universities.

Benefits of a Management degree

One of the main benefits of this degree is that Management is a broad discipline, which keeps students’ career options open.

Management degrees could have a very practical focus, which is an opportunity for students to gain experience in the process of completing their degree before having started their professional careers. Management courses usually offer work placements and practical modules, which include business simulations and business creation in a simulated environment. Acquiring practical experience through these opportunities could make students stand out from the crowd in the job market once they graduate. Research-oriented Management degrees also exist for those who prefer the theoretical aspects of such a degree. Most courses, however, have established a good balance between theory and practice in order to meet the needs of all students.

Management degrees also prepare students to serve the managerial role across a wide range of areas, including HR management, hospitality management, innovation management, operations management, etc. Students can specialize in one particular area or focus on gaining knowledge across all of these areas thanks to the high availability of different management courses.

Additionally, there is a high demand for management professionals in the contemporary business world. Therefore, taking a management course is an opportunity for students to kick-start their careers and occupy a higher position in the organizational hierarchy.

management degree Structure

Management courses usually begin by introducing students to different areas covered by the managerial role, such as organizational management, business environment, statistics, accounting and finance, business growth, etc. After the first year, institutions allow students to explore the management discipline into more depth by delivering specialized modules and offering optional modules, which enable students to choose subjects that interest them the most and are most relevant to their career aspirations.

Management degrees take 3 years to complete in the UK. BA (Hons) Business Management

LSBU, personally, is a great University and its business school faculty is huge. There are plenty of courses that this university offers but I think their business school should be at the very top. The lecturers and professors have always been really open to discuss and help in any way possible, and have supported me throughout my courses.
However, some of the lecture rooms I would say are quite congested and need improvement. Some members of the staff that hold really important positions and roles in the university take a lot of times to reply to mails, and the careers hub is not that helpful.
But, overall, my experience has been really good so far and I would recommend other students to LSBU as one of their options as well, when applying.

In my first year at LSBU, I really adore it! The campus is gorgeous and well worth a visit! In addition to having access to various resources for assistance with classes, the professors are very accommodating and eager to work with students to meet their needs.

A excellent way to start your career

LSBU is a excellent university given that it offers a lot of help during assignments and tasks. The university also offers many workshops, coaching, and events, the seminars and lectures are interesting and creative. The disadvantage is that the university does not have many graduate jobs or internships. The advantage is that the lecturers are very helpful and their are many projects and activities the students can be involved in.

    Comfortable University Environment

As an international student, I think this university has friendly staff and lecturers and a positive studying environment in a small-sized classes. On the other hand, there is a lack of proper and timely explanation of assignments and a frequent changing of timetable that was confusing.

    Student Life

LSBU is a central London-based university, 20 mins walk from the London Eye, opposite Ministry of Sound and surrounded by amazing restaurants with global cuisine. There are 7 schools full of a wide range of different subjects ranging from nursing to architecture to law. You can work part-time as a student ambassador, in the library or in the on-campus cafes. Student life is mainly defined by the mix of activities you can do in london city. I couldn’t recommend coming enough!

    LSBU experience

I consider London South Bank University, as a good university with modern amenities, located between Elephant and Castle (The closest tube station) , Borough, Waterloo and Southwark and with very professional teacher and staff in general , willing to guide you during your academic years and help you to improve yourself as a student and future professional.
I decided to choose this university to study Business Management because I read very good reviews about the course and also because of the study plan ( the modules of the three years).

The university is very interesting, with many buildings, from the old architecture to modern architecture, they promote the diversity, which I found very interesting, they try to incentive students to apply for internships to gain more experience. They try to help students getting in touch with different corporates, so they can start understanding their future careers.

I don’t know about the other courses, but LSBU is a good university to study business, the range of teachers, are very professional and competent.

    Staff review

The teachers are very friendly, they always answer my questions, help me to do all of the assignments, and give the students right time to have a break for 15 minutes. I know some of the security, and they are very friendly as well. I always get a warm welcome from the security and feels like they are my friend, not the security.

Good morning :) I am considering going to the university and I would like to find out more information. Could you tell me more about how students are taught? Are the big or small groups? Do you like the food at the university?

Hey Anna!I would say that I got 2 classes for every modul. For example, for finance class, i got lecturer class which is the very big class, and then i got the seminar class which is only max. 20 people inside. On lecturer class they thaught us the general information of the module and for the seminar class we will look at the module deeper and the teacher will absolutely different. I mean the one that teach us on the lecturer and seminar will different. And the teacher that teach you on the seminar is the one that you can ask more (its your choice to ask the lecturer teacher or the seminar teacher). For the food, it is not bad. But sometimes its quite expensive so i prefer to bring my own food. I hope this is help😊

    Great for graduate opportunities

Study in London without breaking the bank. One of the best modern universities in the United Kingdom. Great for its global appeal and personal approach to student success even after graduation. Located in the centre of one of the biggest cities in the World.
