A Management degree builds a strong foundation in a wide variety of fields including business, finance, economics and marketing. It develops students’ understanding of business practices, structures, business theory, business strategy and research as well as global economies and financial markets. Doing a Management Degree also allows students to gain skills that enable them to work with financial and numerical data effectively.
Management degrees cover different managerial roles, such as Human Resource (HR) management, hospitality management, innovation management, operations management, etc. They can be specialized into one of the areas mentioned above or follow a more general approach that covers most of these areas.
The range of management degrees is huge and includes Business Management, Management, Marketing Management, etc. They are predominantly offered in the business departments/business schools/management schools of different universities.
One of the main benefits of this degree is that Management is a broad discipline, which keeps students’ career options open.
Management degrees could have a very practical focus, which is an opportunity for students to gain experience in the process of completing their degree before having started their professional careers. Management courses usually offer work placements and practical modules, which include business simulations and business creation in a simulated environment. Acquiring practical experience through these opportunities could make students stand out from the crowd in the job market once they graduate. Research-oriented Management degrees also exist for those who prefer the theoretical aspects of such a degree. Most courses, however, have established a good balance between theory and practice in order to meet the needs of all students.
Management degrees also prepare students to serve the managerial role across a wide range of areas, including HR management, hospitality management, innovation management, operations management, etc. Students can specialize in one particular area or focus on gaining knowledge across all of these areas thanks to the high availability of different management courses.
Additionally, there is a high demand for management professionals in the contemporary business world. Therefore, taking a management course is an opportunity for students to kick-start their careers and occupy a higher position in the organizational hierarchy.
Management courses usually begin by introducing students to different areas covered by the managerial role, such as organizational management, business environment, statistics, accounting and finance, business growth, etc. After the first year, institutions allow students to explore the management discipline into more depth by delivering specialized modules and offering optional modules, which enable students to choose subjects that interest them the most and are most relevant to their career aspirations.
Management degrees take 3 years to complete in the UK. However, their duration could extend to 4 years if students choose to spend a year in industry between their second and third year, which is a popular option among the student community. Setting placement opportunities apart, the duration of a Management degree depends on three main factors – country, mode of study (part-time or full-time) and degree level. Below are listed the approximate durations of Management degrees in the most popular countries for Higher Education in Europe:
I think this university is good, however it could improve in key aspects. In could improve in the area of communication between teachers and students. In my opinion, its a teachers duty to communicate effectively to their students, however this is not always the case.
View moreMy experience at DMU is a wonderful one. We are equipped with modern-day facilities, modern libraries, experience teachers with listening and supportive supervisors. The school is centrally positioned at the centre of the city. As an international student, I would say ‘I didn’t leave home…I found a new home.’
View moreI am currently studying at DMU and life here is EXTRAVAGANT! Amazing protocols for education yet student life is super fun. Amazing events are held by the university and it lets your exposure brighten up.
View moreI was a business student at DMU. The facilities and surroundings of this uni are great, no problem at all. However, some teachers don’t give students proper results and they don’t leave specific feedbacks.
View moreYou’ll most likely only enjoy DMU if you try to make the most of it.
Doing a Business and Management course was pretty easy and enjoyable, nothing too difficult. If you want to be challenged this isn’t the subject for you. There really isn’t too much to it, the facilities are good and most professors are really helpful and will try to make lectures and seminars enjoyable.
The real value comes from the support you can get around your subject. For example the employability team. Going for a placement is something that can be extremely stressful and they make it manageable. If you where to compare my first CVs and Cover Letters to those and the end of the academic year you would be shocked. My ability and confidence in interviews rose dramatically thanks to them making sure I was prepared.
This is just one example of many things that are in place at DMU.
The reason I say “make the most of it” is because you will have to ask for them. You will be made aware of all this support, but you have to go ask for it.
So would I recommend you to go DMU, yes. If you are willing to put in a little bit of work and go look for support then, it can make your time there worthwhile.
View moreAfter having spent three years at DMU, it is only fair that I give it the review that it deserves. I studied a Business and Marketing degree where I attended the Hugh Aston building for the majority of my studies. The educational side of the course has taught me so much more and I can confidently say I have grown in knowledge while at DMU. I really enjoy the social aspect of DMU as nearly everyone I met was friendly and approachable. I would highly recommend DMU as a place of study for anyone thinking about it is a choice.
View moreThere is no questioning whether studying at De Montfort University was the right choice for me. It was, and every day I am realising that it is absurd to not make others aware of what it has to offer. Not only are you taught subject-related content, but you are equipped with traits vital for other situations, like interviews and presentations through the variation in the assessing method. It is great that they avoid the old-fashioned way of grading, which is merely through exams.
Another benefit of studying here is that there are thousands of international students enrolled that come from more than 130 countries. Already it is as if you forget you’re in England, through the countless amounts of Nationalities, which is great to diminish the cross-cultural communication barrier. Thus, preparing you for the inevitability of inconsistent demographics that surround us.
De Montfort University is great at evolving with the trends and society. As evident in the modern infrastructure of the Campus. Not to mention, where it is situated, great for students and outsiders.
View moreThis university is a located in heart of Leicester as well as England. It is a amazing and friendly campus for international and home students. De montfort open days is a amazing presentation of the university campus and all the facility shows which will be providing by the University.
