University of Abuja has been a the first school my mentor recommended for me while I was applying for higher education but I got discouraged because of the distance, I was residing in Lagos then. So, I decided to choose closer university like Unilag and University of Ibadan. Unfortunately, I was not given admission.
The following year, I was opportuned to meet a friend who came to Lagos from University of Abuja to spend his holiday. I had the opportunity to inquire about the school and their programs. I was so astonished and impressed with the school calendar and simplicity of life and highly recommended programmes of the school. So, I put in the interest again to apply and I was so happy to have been given admission.
Although, I applied for Law, it wasn’t given and I got offered for Education Administration and Planning. I should rather thank the school for that because I really love the course and I was able to make it with second class upper credit.
We had dedicated and caring lecturers most especially departmental professors like Prof Gabadeen, Prof Hauwa Imam, Prof Hauwa Abdullah, Dr. AbdurRahman.
We were given all the necessary knowledge and information to excellent in our field.
The Hostel life was so nice and okay. I enjoyed the GST lecturers on Culture exposure and conflict resolution.
View moreUniversity of Abuja is one of the biggest university in Nigeria/ I like the environment, the building structures, the school is equip as a federal university, / Dislike, Some of the lectures are not performing well, due to non prompt payment of salary/, RECOMMENDATIONS, yes I can recommend students for the institution
View moreThe one thing I really appreciate is how fast and efficient they are with academics. You don’t have to wait around forever for exam results or administrative tasks to be completed, which makes the whole process of staying on track with your studies much smoother.
On the other hand, my biggest issue is the almost constant increase in school fees. It seems like the fees go up almost every term, which puts a lot of pressure on students and their families and makes it very difficult to budget for your education.
So, would I recommend it? Yes, I would, but with a major heads-up about the financial side of things. If you’re looking for a place where you can get your degree efficiently, it’s a great choice, but you need to be prepared for the rising costs.

The University of Abuja is a quintessential representation of a typical Nigerian university. Like most public institutions in the country, it has its strengths and challenges. The campus offers a lively environment for academic and social activities, with a diverse student population that fosters a sense of community. However, it also experiences the usual hurdles, such as administrative delays, limited infrastructure, and occasional interruptions to academic calendars.
Despite these challenges, the university stands out with its serene environment, dedicated lecturers, and a steady push for academic excellence. It offers a variety of programs across disciplines and provides opportunities for students to grow academically and personally. While there is room for improvement in areas like resource availability and student services, the University of Abuja remains a notable institution with its own unique flavor, reflecting the realities of higher education in Nigeria.
View moreMy opinion is that the university has good structures and a conducive learning environment.
I like the fact that the Academic calendar is fast and I dislike the fact that the exam timetable comes out very late before the exam, at times four to five days notice and also rescheduling of exams.
Sure I will recommend the school.
