My experience at the University of Turin comprehended different aspects, from interesting activities to less intriguing ones.
I was not very lucky with my thesis professor but, at the same time, I am happy with my results and what I accomplished during these three years.
I am in my first year of the Bachelor of Arts in “communication sciences” program.
In these three years I will have the opportunity to analyze various aspects and many useful subjects in life in order to have a general basis. Some courses are compulsory (such as macroeconomics or storytelling, as you can see, two totally different but fundamental subjects) while the others (I dare say most of them) are chosen by the student on the basis of the indications that can be found in the pdf of the career plan. The choice is vast and includes many possibilities (including studying foreign languages). Of the degree program, I like the diversity, the fact that the courses begin and end with their assessment and then after that I can immediately start with other courses. This course is dynamic, interactive. I would recommend it especially to those people who feel they have to make a choice because they can’t bridge the different passions or interests they have. In my opinion you have to have a predisposition or be fascinated by the world of cinema because many courses, especially in the second and third year, deal with this. However, it remains a degree that gives you many job opportunities and some in common with other degree courses, such as “DAMS” or “political science”.
This University offers a great variety of courses. Some of those are offered in English, which is great, especially for exchange students who come to this University and are not particularly comfortable with the Italian language. On a personal standpoint, when it comes to the classes I have attended (related to ICTs), they are very interesting and relatively current. The infrastractures are quite recent and they have everything a student may need or want to better enhance his/her academic experience. The city also is another plus: it drives people to explore its beauty and it gives lots of opportunities for students to meet new people and hang out in a variety of places spread around the city. Overall, this University provides a great learning experience for a young person, on a personal level as well as on an educational one.
