The University of Chicago is an urban research university founded in 1890. It is located in Hyde Park, which used to be the home of Barack Obama (former President of the USA), who taught at UChicago Law School for 12 years. The University encourages students to challenge conventional wisdom by creating a free-inquiry atmosphere where students and professors are constantly collaborating and challenging each other’s assumptions in order to come up with original ideas. Research done at the University of Chicago has given life to many breakthroughs, among which are the link between cancer and genetics and established economic theories. The University has also been the home of 91 Nobel Prize winners.

Students can ask for safety escorts at day and nighttime if they want to guarantee their safety when moving around campus. The UChicago library is a home of over 11 million volumes, which makes it the 10th largest library in North America. Apart from the availability of millions of literature pieces, the University also offers its students the opportunity to join hundreds of student groups, and attend multiple events on campus. When it comes to sports, UChicago has it all. Its athletics and recreation sports include intramural and club teams in various sports. There are more than 15 teams, but its wrestling and basketball programs’ performance stands out. Classes and fitness programs are also available on campus. Sports events at the university are not only for the people performing though. They are also a great way for everyone to spend time with their friends and make new connections.
