Best value for your money for an education, minus the incredibly predatory rent prices that landlords have enacted in order to ruin the culture of the town of Boone. The professors are second to none, and the environment is amazing. Nowhere in the world is better than the mountains. You are truly set up for success if you want it at App.
Still, through all of this, the rent prices are getting bad enough to ruin not only the culture of the town (as it already has started to greatly), but the culture of the school. App State has always been a school for everyone of every economic group. But when you have predatory, selfish, greedy landlords who only care about their pockets and nothing else, you push out so much potential for the school.
There are no good words I will ever have for the landlords in the areas, but I will never run out of good things to say about the school and all it has done for me
Amazing University all around! So much culture and a small town feel.

View moreAppalachian State has an incredibly welcoming atmosphere with intimate student to professor ratios, 400 academic, sports, and personal interests clubs, two large dining halls, and an interactive student center. I majored in Psychology and utilized the academic advisors within and outside of my major. I participated in a few clubs on campus and made lots of lifelong friendships. They set me up for the success I have today and I would recommend this university to anyone!
View moreAppalachian State University does an exceptional job equipping students with support systems, ensuring a constant reinforcement both academically and emotionally/psychologically. The art departments, both performance and visual, do suffer from lower funding than its STEM counterparts. The education quality, however, is not reflected on the low budgeting. The professors truly build a personal relationship with students to promote personal and educational growth.
