I am currently in my second year studying Psychology at the University of Surrey. I chose Surrey because of its strong reputation and high ranking for Psychology, and I have enjoyed my experience so far. I have particularly enjoyed modules such as Behavioural, Developmental, Social and Global Psychology, and I have found the workload challenging but manageable.
One thing I appreciate about Surrey is how supportive the lecturers and personal tutors are. They encourage students to approach them and are always willing to help when needed. The 24/7 library is probably my favourite facility, especially during busy periods.
The campus is beautiful, green and peaceful, and there are many societies that are open to everyone. I have found it easy to make friends through societies, and the university has also provided useful opportunities outside of academics. For example, I found my nursery job after attending a careers fair on campus.
Prospective students should know that Guildford can be quite expensive, both for living and eating out. The town is also not particularly busy, and there are not many social spaces compared with larger cities. However, if you are looking for a peaceful environment and a good balance between academic life and student life, Surrey is a great place to study.
Overall, I would give my experience 4 out of 5 stars. My friends and the supportive atmosphere have made university enjoyable, and I have found Surrey to be a calm place to grow academically and personally.
