I really enjoyed my time at Oxford. The teaching style suited me: it was a few small group/1:1/1:2 sessions a week. Most of my time was spent reading in a library, following threads of my own interest. This did not suit everyone – a few of my friends really struggled with the lack of contact and structure, but I enjoyed the close relationship to my tutors and the ability to focus on things that genuinely excited me. The opportunity to take part in a lot of extracurricular activities – from sports to art to debating – was also very enjoyable and unique. Plus, the city is just gorgeous! You can really romanticise your life as a stressed, overworked student when you get to walk around a place that literally looks like Hogwarts. Your experience will depend on the specific college you go to – so make sure to research that.
