What is a Management degree?

A Management degree builds a strong foundation in a wide variety of fields including business, finance, economics and marketing. It develops students’ understanding of business practices, structures, business theory, business strategy and research as well as global economies and financial markets. Doing a Management Degree also allows students to gain skills that enable them to work with financial and numerical data effectively.

Management degrees cover different managerial roles, such as Human Resource (HR) management, hospitality management, innovation management, operations management, etc. They can be specialized into one of the areas mentioned above or follow a more general approach that covers most of these areas.

The range of management degrees is huge and includes Business Management, Management, Marketing Management, etc. They are predominantly offered in the business departments/business schools/management schools of different universities.

Benefits of a Management degree

One of the main benefits of this degree is that Management is a broad discipline, which keeps students’ career options open.

Management degrees could have a very practical focus, which is an opportunity for students to gain experience in the process of completing their degree before having started their professional careers. Management courses usually offer work placements and practical modules, which include business simulations and business creation in a simulated environment. Acquiring practical experience through these opportunities could make students stand out from the crowd in the job market once they graduate. Research-oriented Management degrees also exist for those who prefer the theoretical aspects of such a degree. Most courses, however, have established a good balance between theory and practice in order to meet the needs of all students.

Management degrees also prepare students to serve the managerial role across a wide range of areas, including HR management, hospitality management, innovation management, operations management, etc. Students can specialize in one particular area or focus on gaining knowledge across all of these areas thanks to the high availability of different management courses.

Additionally, there is a high demand for management professionals in the contemporary business world. Therefore, taking a management course is an opportunity for students to kick-start their careers and occupy a higher position in the organizational hierarchy.

management degree Structure

Management courses usually begin by introducing students to different areas covered by the managerial role, such as organizational management, business environment, statistics, accounting and finance, business growth, etc. After the first year, institutions allow students to explore the management discipline into more depth by delivering specialized modules and offering optional modules, which enable students to choose subjects that interest them the most and are most relevant to their career aspirations.

Management degrees take 3 years to complete in the UK. An experience to re-experience

I attended my master degree at the Westminster University. I really enjoyed it it was such a multicultural and diverse environment which helped me to learn more about different cultures and different aspects of life. My lectures were so inspiring and informative, most of the time there were seminars in which the students would talk and discuss in a practical way the thoughts and the ideas absorbed during the lectures.

My Experience with University of Westminster

So far my experience studying business management has been mostly positive. University of Westminster is a city school with a mediocre reputation that is trying really hard. The host many student events, they encourage collaboration with peers and provide pretty good accommodation. Almost everything about University of Westminster is almost good. However, you almost pity it because you know they are trying. My professors are kind and experienced, they know what they are talking about. My fellow students are sometimes disrespectful but sometimes extremely hard working. In my experience University of Westminster is an average city school, with above average opportunities connected to it. That is, if you apply yourself. The opportunities are there, there is a lot to be gained if you decide to search for it.

    Fantastic experience

The University of Westminster has, in my opinion, been a fantastic experience all around. With numerous organizations to join and interact with on campus, there are many ways to get involved in campus life. Greek life is also thriving and engages in active community engagement.

    Everything good so far

Everything is going well until now. The lecturers are pretty experienced and really helpful whenever you need some.

I am doing a Bachelor’s in International Business, and until now, everything we have gone through so far helps so much in understanding the topic.

Case studies and groupwork are what I value the most on the degree.

    Housing

I used to live in Alexander Fleming Hall in Hoxton Market and it was perfect. I enjoyed having my own room and sharing an apartment with other international students, so I was able to meet people faster. As a student, I am proud to have attended a university that respects and embraces diversity and individuality.

    Useful project

The project we did is really helpful! Instead of learning necessary materials in class, we are allowed to use Bloomberg, SQL, Python, YahooFinance, and so forth to apply to the real world! By doing so, I feel I have a better understanding of my modules. The data and models are not always so perfect in reality enabling me to have a deeper understanding.

Excellent university in the heart of London

I am from India and I have been here for the last 6-8 Months. I am pursuing my Master’s studies in International Business Management at Westminster University in London. If I talk about my course, the duration of the course is 1 year and the fees are around 17000 Pounds. University is not providing scholarships to any student. We learn many subjects here like Business Intelligence, Global strategy, International political Economy etc. All faculties are friendly and supportive here. From my point of view, this university is superb if you are looking for a great education in the UK.

    A wonderful experience at Westminster

I studied at the University Of Westminster for my Master’s degree in Music Business Management. I was fortunate enough to obtain a scholarship request right after i finished my BA hons at the Harrow Campus. Because the university gave me this opportunity i was able to further study and be awarded with he scholarship. One of the main highlights of studying at Westminster and studying this course in particular was the variety of outside professionals who came in as guest lecturers, to give us further insight into real life working environments. As this was done frequently that gave us the opportunity to start establishing relationships once the course was done. This enabled me to further my career post university, as well as job opportunities that our course tutors would often post up. I highly admired the flexibility given to be able to study on the course whilst having the time to take on work outside of studying hours. The location of the campus in London is a key feature, just being around the corner from Warren Street on the Victoria Line meant that you could get to any destination quickly. But this is a key feature to point out, as this enabled many guests from labels, publishers and more to take part as they were very local from work. The university to me has the right amount of students who attend during the year, as the campus doesn’t get too overcrowded and allowed for us to have the space to really take in the university. Although sometimes i felt like there wasn’t a vast amount of facilities to experience whilst i was there. The facilities are super clean and the canteen area was spacious. The food was always nice and nutritious. The course tutors were super helpful during the dissertation. Taking the time out to extend time to get the work done right is what i admired. Overall they do a great job at extending further opportunities for students beyond graduation, which is highly important once graduating. I had a great experience there and i would highly recommend University Of Westminster.

    SUPPORTIVE TEACHERS

Everything is perfect. the modules are not that stimulating as I wanted it, not enough collaboration and experiences working with external partners like companies and a chance to gain skills.

The teachers are the best helpful and resourceful.

Great university for music business enthusiasts

University of Westminster is one of the few universities that offers a complete course in Music Business Management, thus allowing student to get a glimpse into the reality of the music industry. All the professors are professionals and are available to give personalised advice to all students. The main perk of this course is the opportunity to attend seminars and meet experts that currently dominate the market.
