What is a Management degree?

A Management degree builds a strong foundation in a wide variety of fields including business, finance, economics and marketing. It develops students’ understanding of business practices, structures, business theory, business strategy and research as well as global economies and financial markets. Doing a Management Degree also allows students to gain skills that enable them to work with financial and numerical data effectively.

Management degrees cover different managerial roles, such as Human Resource (HR) management, hospitality management, innovation management, operations management, etc. They can be specialized into one of the areas mentioned above or follow a more general approach that covers most of these areas.

The range of management degrees is huge and includes Business Management, Management, Marketing Management, etc. They are predominantly offered in the business departments/business schools/management schools of different universities.

Benefits of a Management degree

One of the main benefits of this degree is that Management is a broad discipline, which keeps students’ career options open.

Management degrees could have a very practical focus, which is an opportunity for students to gain experience in the process of completing their degree before having started their professional careers. Management courses usually offer work placements and practical modules, which include business simulations and business creation in a simulated environment. Acquiring practical experience through these opportunities could make students stand out from the crowd in the job market once they graduate. Research-oriented Management degrees also exist for those who prefer the theoretical aspects of such a degree. Most courses, however, have established a good balance between theory and practice in order to meet the needs of all students.

Management degrees also prepare students to serve the managerial role across a wide range of areas, including HR management, hospitality management, innovation management, operations management, etc. Students can specialize in one particular area or focus on gaining knowledge across all of these areas thanks to the high availability of different management courses.

Additionally, there is a high demand for management professionals in the contemporary business world. Therefore, taking a management course is an opportunity for students to kick-start their careers and occupy a higher position in the organizational hierarchy.

management degree Structure

Management courses usually begin by introducing students to different areas covered by the managerial role, such as organizational management, business environment, statistics, accounting and finance, business growth, etc. After the first year, institutions allow students to explore the management discipline into more depth by delivering specialized modules and offering optional modules, which enable students to choose subjects that interest them the most and are most relevant to their career aspirations.

Worth investing your precious time as an student

University of Sussex is one of the best in the United Kingdom as an international student I’ll highly recommend this University for each and every individual who is willing to learn and live the best together
UOS has the best team for each and every particular department who will always give their best to give you a solution
UOS has students from around the world which makes it even better because every student bring something to the University which others can enjoy and learn too

The things I can say University can improve are
    their student evaluation system
they evaluate students on the basis of the submitted assignments which I think is not 100% fair University should also do some other things to see the students capabilities

Overall the University is Awesome and the cherry on top is this university is situated in Brighton one of the best place in the UK to live

    Engineering business management

MSc in Engineering Business Management at the University of Sussex is a very important degree for the future leaders in technology and business development sectors. I learned the significance of technical solutions in the world of business. There are two pathways to choose, electrical and mechanical and a variety of business, management and engineering modules. It almost felt like an MBA but with more technicalities.

University of Sussex is very supportive for their students with Student Unions listening to the needs of the University. A big range of scholarships are available for those with abilities or certain financial hardships. The university also carries out extra classes for supporting international students in adapting to the new environment, academically or socially. Buddy scheme and Careerlab ensures students can always seek for advice regardless of the query they have. The professors and teachers are very responsive, considerate and will schedule meetings for extra help outside classroom. All in all, the university provides excellent academic support alongside mental healthy support.

The computer labs are equipped with the state of the art processors, monitors and other hardwares. The 24h library befits anyone’s study schedule and can accommodate a very large number of students, may it be for self study or group discussions. The sports activities were easily reachable but they should advertise more about their activities to make sure the interested students can follow up. Accommodation prices are on the high but there are a lot of off-campus accommodation facilities as well. In both cases, quality of the housing is top-notch.

The university’s administration is very professional and keeps the students updated with the ongoing and achieved developments of the university.

It has been a pleasure for me to have University of Sussex beside me in my Masters studies. It is an unforgettable experience as I have learned more than what academic books can teach me but the memorable experiences and lovely companies that I had.

    An international in Sussex

I was lucky enough to have really good lecturers who provided good feedback throughout and were genuinely trying to make their courses as good as possible despite the difficult circumstances. However, I think communication from the university wasn’t great. It took several months for them to sort out a no detriment policy (which we didn’t even really get in the end) and they have sent many contradictory and confusing emails while pretending they’re “always there for the students”. I didn’t find that very helpful. I’ve also heard from other people that there were lots of issues with extenuating circumstances claims so that’s not great either. Nevertheless, I felt very supported by my individual lecturers
