I’m doing my first year at uDubs. The experience has been amazing. Met lots and lots of people and got to learn things that I never thought I’d learn. I wouldn’t change a single thing about this school, although I do wish we had more lectures for my classes as
the workload gets piled up.
My first year experience was very different from how others experienced theirs. I felt that the university’s communication was not as it was supposed to be, especially in the first semester of my study, our department did not let us know some important details on time and we had to find out on our own or go enquire ourselves. That was very draining and it made learning stressful, and I honestly hope that they improve on that.
View moreOur university takes student’s mental health seriously! They know that in order for students to get good marks and live better lives they will need to be mentally healthy. We get counsellors come into our classes to do mental check ins, we get free counselling sessions at school and we have a toll free phone number we can call at any time of the day which provides support at a time of need. I applaud the university for understanding the importance of mental health among students.
View moreMy opinion on UWC is a good one. I have enjoyed the environment and the people at the university, but in particular the student assistance that is provided by the university. UWC understands student related matters and struggles and tries to be as forthcoming as possible towards them, to ensure students are still able to progress in their studies regardless of inconveniences or struggles. There is a vibrant campus lifestyle with board games such as dominos being played every day, in the student center, and many areas of campus where you are able to grab a bite to eat or a coffee, and talk to many people, from either different backgrounds or different faculties, as most people are really pleasant to talk too.
In concluding, UWC is a great university with lots of cultural diversity and it’s a great place to be educated.
I highly recommend this university as its staff and students are friendly. It offers a variety of certificates such as diplomas, higher certificate and degrees . It has seven faculties which include, the faculty of education for those who want to pursue a career in teaching, faculty of arts , faculty of law for those who are interested in the legal field, faculty of EMS for individuals who want to be CAs and Business analysts , so on and so forth. There is Faculty of Dentistry, Community Health and Science as well as Natural Sciences. I would be lying if I would say there is anything that I hate in the University of The Western Cape.
