What I liked most was the theoretical knowledge I acquired about Psychology, the way the teachers approached scientific methodology, and the studies I read about this field. In my opinion, the teachers were great, very helpful, and have a lot of experience in the various fields of Psychology, which they are very willing to pass on to the students.

I did not like the fact that as a foreign student, I missed the integration process in school, and because of it, it took me some time to feel comfortable. Despite the theoretical knowledge I gained, I think the classes are exaggeratedly theoretical, and that the program and the classes could have had more practical content.

For improvements, I suggest the creation of more places inside the University to work out mental health issues with the student population and I would recommend that the University focuses more on the integration of foreign students who are part of the Portuguese-speaking community (e.g., African and Brazilian students).

Despite the negative issues I mentioned about the Faculty of Psychology of the University of Lisbon, I would recommend it to others. I think the University is not very international because some classes are not taught in the English language, which makes learning more difficult for international students (e.g., EU and others).

Career-wise, the University helps the students by providing a curricular internship so the students can have practical experiences outside the University.

Regardless, the job search is difficult for junior psychologists in Portugal, which is not the University’s fault.
