What I liked most was the theoretical knowledge I acquired about Psychology, the way the teachers approached scientific methodology, and the studies I read about this field. In my opinion, the teachers were great, very helpful, and have a lot of experience in the various fields of Psychology, which they are very willing to pass on to the students.
I did not like the fact that as a foreign student, I missed the integration process in school, and because of it, it took me some time to feel comfortable. Despite the theoretical knowledge I gained, I think the classes are exaggeratedly theoretical, and that the program and the classes could have had more practical content.
For improvements, I suggest the creation of more places inside the University to work out mental health issues with the student population and I would recommend that the University focuses more on the integration of foreign students who are part of the Portuguese-speaking community (e.g., African and Brazilian students).
Despite the negative issues I mentioned about the Faculty of Psychology of the University of Lisbon, I would recommend it to others. I think the University is not very international because some classes are not taught in the English language, which makes learning more difficult for international students (e.g., EU and others).
Career-wise, the University helps the students by providing a curricular internship so the students can have practical experiences outside the University.
Regardless, the job search is difficult for junior psychologists in Portugal, which is not the University’s fault.
View moreVery good curriculum with technical knowledge and equal exposure to practical experience with modern lab facilities. High quality of teaching with well-experienced lecturers. A bit too much workload, but in the end, you have better know-how.
View moreThe Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Lisbon has good students’ associations that get the international world more closure to students with annual symposiums and congresses all around the world.
View moreMy experience has been fantastic, people are very welcoming and there is a lot of diversity of students around the world. I would definitely recommend my university because of the spirit it has and its value.
View moreEverybody knows how stressful university life can be but a lot can change depending on our motivation! On one hand, being an International Relations student at ISCSP, the political studies center of UL, has changed a lot of my beliefs and showed me that my future can be a beautiful canvas of knowledge and opportunities. So, even in hard times when giving up seems like the only choice, I keep believing that my best days are ahead of me not in my present challenges. But on the other hand, the old way of teaching and the evaluation process can be very unfair for an XXI century motivated youth. The way some teachers communicate can be very frustrating and the way of giving grades, where we feel like we are measured by numbers, is most of the time super demotivating. So, in general, I would say that despite all the great points of it, this program is not only a classic one but old in a not so good way.
View moreThe program is great, many different kinds of study areas which interconnect perfectly. This programme even touches subjects that many IR programs don’t, which for me was a plus. The teachers are mostly very good and very open to helping their students. One thing I would point out and reinforce is the quality of the facilities which are really good and modern, it is not the most important factor of course, but having good surroundings is always helpful when it comes to learning.
View moreThe Program I am studying is English and American Studies, it is really novel and attractive for young people who are looking for art, film and linguistics in English. The school staff are helpful and attentive. The only thing which concerns everyone is the system of Halls of Residence, especially for researchers and Ph.D. students which do not provide dormitories for them.
View moreOverall, Universidade de Lisboa is not a bad university since the subjects that are taught are pretty impressive and the amount of languages that it has makes it even more impressive. The teachers, the students, and all the other staff os pretty great but what I found to be very difficult at this university is that the classes that you have are with people from different courses so you end up having a tough time meeting people and having the college experience.
View moreThe program is exceptionally good, couldn’t have asked for better professors. 1st year was a little bit hard to adjust but with the help of the school staff as well as senior students I found my way. Totally recommend it.
View moreRelevant and useful curriculum. Teachers who see students as people, not numbers, relaxation is close, which helps in the evolution and specificity of each student. Possibility of a solid career.
