Whats up guys! As it stands now, I am in the University of Coimbra pursuing my Chemical Engineering and I would just like to state that the education experience so far has been tremendous!.
The curriculum is extremely comprehensive and discussed the topics starting from organic and inorganic chemistries to analytical methods. Every single course is difficult but at the same time, very engaging; it is what I consider getting a crash course in how to be a scientist. My favourite part is maybe the labs—how about getting some practical feel and use all the knowledge we get in classes?
The professors are fantastic! They understand their areas of specialty but are also friendly and make it their business to ensure our success. I like that they promote questions and so after that the classes seem very friendly.
As another advantage, it is also possible to add the university as an organization. What a lovely city Coimbra is; it has history and many students choosing the city to continue their education. They have many different interesting activities as well as meetings so it will be quite comfortable to become friends with people and have some spare time besides the classes.
University of Coimbra is a great option for everyone who is interested in chemistry as a subject and wishes to gain necessary knowledge in chemistry with helpful teachers and enthusiasts. It has been great and already I am anticipating what is in store for me in the future.

    It gets better

I’m half Brazilian, so I already speak Portuguese, the problem was the slang because Brazilian and Portuguese are a little different. Anyway…
Portugal is a relatively cheap country. The market near the city center has a lot to buy and the people there are very friendly.

    Chemistry department review

The University of Coimbra is an excellent choice for those focused on business and entrepreneurial studies. Although I’m not religious, I felt accepted by my peers, but I never quite felt like I fit the typical Uni Coimbra student mold. I appreciated the smaller class sizes and the hands-on activities in the labs, which helped reinforce the concepts taught in lectures. While some professors were more helpful than others, the chemistry department was a disappointment, with professors unwilling to assist with difficult topics and a lack of tutoring support for those courses.

Student life (basketball and stuff) 😀

My experience at Coimbra University has been great. Even though I’ve only been here for two years, it’s been a positive time for me. The university has a small-town feel, and the student life is incredible. I work with the women’s basketball team, and it’s amazing to witness the school spirit during games and the strong support for all athletics. I’m truly happy with my time here.

    Improve the service a bit.

The University of Coimbra is a highly-respected educational institution, but there are still areas where the student body can be improved. First, students should be encouraged to participate in extracurricular activities, such as clubs and sports teams, to foster a sense of community. Second, the university should create more opportunities for students to interact with local businesses and organizations, to help them gain practical experience and build relationships.

University of Coimbra lives in the fame

It’s my fifth year in the University of Coimbra, and I was already in two faculties (Faculty of Economics and Science and Technology). I would say the strengths of my university are the proximity with professors (they are very accessible), it’s not difficult to have good grades and, in this line of thought, this is good to have extracurricular activities (such as BEST), the fact that the city is small so it creates an incredible environment to study here! The weakness are the lack of investment in some facilities and projects, lives mostly by its fame and, sometimes refuses to change some aspects (like, it’s adverse to change the way professors deliver classes). Overall, I like studying in Coimbra and, right now, I wouldn’t change university!
