Unilag is in my opinion the best university in Nigeria .
The recent Times ratings can attest to this.
With strong alumni presence in major multinational organizations across various industries and as a brand providing visibility for teaching staff and Excellent students. The school posseses top tier lecturers that are recognized internationally in their fields.
Despite all of this the school still has challenges that are peculiar to it
Chief among them is inadequate accommodation with limited bed space for large student population .
High cost of living especially on campus is challenging for the average student .
At UNILAG anyone who is not intentional about their goal can loose their way easily with more than enough distractions around.
Even with this challenges the number of success stories shows that being an Akoka gives you a higher chance of achieving greatness than others who are not.
Honestly unilag is a great school and a school for good networking! But what I don’t like is how they don’t really take the interest of the students at heart in terms of school fees, hostel accommodation, good condusive learning environment
View moreThe University of Lagos is a very good school with a strong reputation in Nigeria. I like the vibrant learning environment, the diversity of students, and the opportunities to grow both academically and socially. What stood out to me are the engaging classes, supportive professors, and the lively campus life.
One challenge is that some processes can be stressful, but overall, I’d definitely recommend Unilag for the quality education and exposure it offers.
View moreI’d say the experience has been a mix of good and challenging. The lecturers are generally knowledgeable and passionate, especially in core education courses as I’m a student of the faculty of education , but sometimes the teaching methods feel outdated while they simultaneously lean a bit too much in the independent student learning direction. Facilities are okay but could definitely be better at least in my faculty, the classrooms are usually spacious and okay, the more populous departments conduct their lecturers in halls and access to resources like internet is student independent. On the bright side, there’s a strong sense of community among students and an enhanced social experience, the faculty tries to involve us in seminars and there are compulsory practical teaching experiences. Overall, it’s an above decent place to study education, but there’s room for improvement in infrastructure and student support.
View moreThe University of Lagos, Nigeria is one of the best universities in Nigeria and Africa at large, boasting a conducive learning environment, qualified lecturers, and a rich social life.
The professors are really strict, but they are all about your success. They push you beyond your limits so that you can bring forth your full potential. There are instances where I would get frustrated at the workload of these lecturers, but at the end of the day, I am amazed at how better I get by the day.
Also, UNILAG campus is one of the most beautiful campuses in Africa. It is the only university with a waterfront in Africa as it is a site for tourism and relaxation. There are also other beautiful places on campus where one can relax, such as the Love Garden, The park, The zoo, and so on. Genrally, UNILAG combines learning with fun.
The school calendar is poor and not reviewed professionally every year for students which has made 3 years course into 5 years and even more for some students. This has made school tiring and frustrating for aspiring students who want to acquire higher education in different fields of study.
The increase in Sundry fees with little or no improvement and renovation in classes and hostels for students to comfortably live-in has made learning environment not conducive for learners.
UNILAG is a school of great connection and great alumni’s . i meet with various great minded and like minded individuals on a daily basis . Its a great experience likewise it has other sides to it like going to classes, that’s really tedious and all (waking up early and preparing for classes) . My lecturers are lovely and caring by the way i forgot to mention i’m currently studying Library and Information Science In the UNILAG getting to explore the Information world . My experience so far has been great .

View moreA prestigious school with big classrooms and great ambience. The campus shuttles made our lives easy. Some courses are too abstract though and some lecturers are a bit though. In all, it was an impactful experience for me, Proud to be a student of a great school
