Excellent regional university and the Cosenza hinterland. Research centers in the scientific and engineering fields are recommended. It has a good international network for exchanges and opportunities for traineeships and internships.View more
I graduated and obtained a Ph.D. at Unical. The years of studies and research have allowed me to prepare myself for the world of work, specifically for the teaching of my subject.View more
UNICAL is one of the largest European campuses, which has some faculties with excellent teachers such as engineering or economics faculties. The university groups, which are particularly active, organize different events and promote cultural artistic projects that stimulate confrontation and social integration. The students have available accommodation and all the services of primary need as well as several buses to the city center, which should however be more powerful especially in night service. Forge of ideas and source of excellent graduates, UNICAL unfortunately also suffers from the various problems of southern Italy but at the same time represents a pulsating heart of development, progress and cultural pride.View more

What I preferred during my university studies is the huge open spaces that UNICAL has. The whole university is a bridge long more than 2 kilometers, with classrooms buildings at both sides. Most of the classrooms are easy to reach (even for people with handicaps) and clean, except for the more peripheral ones.
There are also some free study rooms for the students, and two libraries as well. At the end of the bridge, there is a post office (Poste Italiane) and an amphitheatre.
There are three canteens (at begin, in the middle and at the end of the bridge) which cover all people tastes. Vending machines are common, ready to deliver a fast breakfast between lessons.
Most of the teachers are very professional, punctual and helpful towards the students: for any doubt there are the office hours.
In Arcavacata, the area where the campus is located, there are two minimarket, a pharmacy and several pizza restaurants, but lacks of events for the students (except for FiloRosso night and some parties at students’ accommodation).
The near Quattromiglia offers lots of events for a good price.
The overall judgement is positive, but there are some areas which needs some improvements.View more
Calm place, the area surrounding the campus is underdeveloped but the nearby Quattromiglia is quite cheap.
Professors are very competent, some of them can be very strict. There are some international students (mostly from Spain, Portugal and East Asia). Student clubs often organize nice events.
As for facilities, most of them are in good conditions but there are some that really need to be renovated. The locals are awesome people.
