What is a Management degree?

A Management degree builds a strong foundation in a wide variety of fields including business, finance, economics and marketing. It develops students’ understanding of business practices, structures, business theory, business strategy and research as well as global economies and financial markets. Doing a Management Degree also allows students to gain skills that enable them to work with financial and numerical data effectively.

Management degrees cover different managerial roles, such as Human Resource (HR) management, hospitality management, innovation management, operations management, etc. They can be specialized into one of the areas mentioned above or follow a more general approach that covers most of these areas.

The range of management degrees is huge and includes Business Management, Management, Marketing Management, etc. They are predominantly offered in the business departments/business schools/management schools of different universities.

Benefits of a Management degree

One of the main benefits of this degree is that Management is a broad discipline, which keeps students’ career options open.

Management degrees could have a very practical focus, which is an opportunity for students to gain experience in the process of completing their degree before having started their professional careers. Management courses usually offer work placements and practical modules, which include business simulations and business creation in a simulated environment. Acquiring practical experience through these opportunities could make students stand out from the crowd in the job market once they graduate. Research-oriented Management degrees also exist for those who prefer the theoretical aspects of such a degree. Most courses, however, have established a good balance between theory and practice in order to meet the needs of all students.

Management degrees also prepare students to serve the managerial role across a wide range of areas, including HR management, hospitality management, innovation management, operations management, etc. Students can specialize in one particular area or focus on gaining knowledge across all of these areas thanks to the high availability of different management courses.

Additionally, there is a high demand for management professionals in the contemporary business world. Therefore, taking a management course is an opportunity for students to kick-start their careers and occupy a higher position in the organizational hierarchy.

management degree Structure

Management courses usually begin by introducing students to different areas covered by the managerial role, such as organizational management, business environment, statistics, accounting and finance, business growth, etc. After the first year, institutions allow students to explore the management discipline into more depth by delivering specialized modules and offering optional modules, which enable students to choose subjects that interest them the most and are most relevant to their career aspirations.

    Possibilities offered

Is a great university that offers a lot of international possibilities, the teachers are overall good but with some cases and some courses that has to be revised. In general I think that practical experience should be included more. I had an erasmus in Spain and noticed how much the other international students were ahead of me in terms of job experience, this was due to their university more focused on learning skills that would be useful in the job world. So I think too much theory that is not useful apart from cultural knowledge (in my opinion).
Lastly, the thesis is absolutely unnecessary and just a pain to be done in the way it is structured at the moment. I think it should be more related to something practical, maybe to internship instead of 40 pages of writing… This is my opinion.

    Solid Programme with International Focus

The Economics and Management programme at the University of Trento offers a strong theoretical foundation and a well-organized curriculum. I appreciate the international environment, the quality of teaching, and the focus on critical thinking and analytical skills. However, I believe the programme could benefit from more practical experiences, such as case studies, internships, and closer ties with the job market. Overall, I would recommend it to students who value academic depth and are looking for a stimulating university experience.

    My Bachelor in Languages

As I’m reaching the end line of my three-year bachelor degree, I’m able to give some feedback on the experience on its whole. I think this bachelor gave me discipline, new knowledges and also helped me develop personal skills, such as time management. Professors were super demanding, especially the german ones. In fact, the most difficult part for me was succeeding in the German courses, I found it very challenging and it also made me question myself and my university choice. I had very difficult and sad moments, I started thinking I could have made it to the end. It’s true, I’m still finishing, but I hope this is the time. I also understood that I want to do something different in my future, so I decided to change the main subject of my master’s degree: I’m gonna study management for sustainability and tourism.

    High quality university program

The course I’m taking is the first-ever in the University of Trento’s history. It is a work in progress so there is still some lack in the organization and coordination of the classes, but the professors are valid and you can see the passion they have for the subjects they teach. The lessons are more innovative in the sense that students have their role with presentations, projects and interactive activities during classes. The university offers a lot of opportunities (conferences, discussions, debates, and meetings with alumni or workers) to show the life after the university and it helps you in making decisions about the future. It supports the student components taking into consideration as much as possible their needs and interest, creating a peaceful and environment for studying and knowing people with the same goals, interests, beliefs…

    UniTn: a solid academic background

I think Trento is a great place to do your bachelor. UniTn’s expectations are very high and the level of effort and passion you have to put in to perform better is increasing every year. UniTn gives you a solid academic background but at the same time the university is too young to provide its students with an efficient national and international network.
