    A challenging study programme

I am studying International Software Systems Science at the University of Bamberg. The programme has many interesting courses, but some courses are quite difficult and require a lot of self-study. I like the international environment because I can meet students from different countries. Most professors and university staff are friendly and helpful. Bamberg is also a beautiful, peaceful and student-friendly city. Sometimes it can be difficult to understand the course materials, especially for students without a strong computer science background. Overall, I have had a good experience, and I would recommend this programme to motivated students who are ready to study independently.

    Simplicity and Open Ended Culture

I am enrolled in the Software System Sciences master’s degree program. What I like most about my university is its open culture, which means you have full control over which courses you want to enroll in. Moreover, the helpdesk is very efficient in helping students.

Studying in UNESCO world heritage buildings

The University of Bamberg is spread all over the City but you can still go everywhere within not more than 20 minutes by bike. Even though there are quite many students in Bamberg, it feels like the university is small and familiar because you will always see someone you know. Additionally, there is a high number of student organizations with different interests and focus areas. As a result, there are always events and the cultural life in Bamberg is quite diverse. The university itself also is a university of short ways. Depending on the degree of studies, teachers know their students and are supporting them with their studies. The administration is also helpful and answers within a short time. As a result, especially for teaching degrees i would recomment the university of Bamberg.

Great studentlife in a charming city with a nice offer in university courses that allow you to create your individual dream-studies

I loved my time at the University of Bamberg because of several factors. The Bachelor I chose to study there was unique in the way it was offered in Bamberg, there are many optional courses and every student can put together his or her individual schedule with times and topics that he or she liked best. Apart from that, the University of Bamberg is very international, there are hundreds of international students incoming as well as hundreds of students from Bamberg outgoing.
Regarding the professors and tutors, of course, there were some really good ones and other ones that presented their slides with less enthusiasm. You will figure out how you study best during your 3 years at University anyway. Sometimes it’s honestly better to stay at home and study for yourself…
Next, to that, our buildings are not on one campus, but we do have several smaller campuses where there is always a nice atmosphere and where you always meet someone you know.
There is also a big offer in student organisations. I was part of the student association AEGEE-Bamberg/European Students’ Forum, which enriched my student life in a way that I found amazing friends, I travelled a lot of thanks to AEGEE, I took part in different soft skill training and developed myself by working in AEGEE both on a local level, organizing projects and events and being part of the managing board and on the European level, participating in events and taking leading roles in our trans-national groups.
I would totally recommend the University of Bamberg to anyone who wants to study in a cozy, familiar atmosphere, who likes to engage himself in extracurricular activities and who likes UNESCO world heritage city centres. You will love Bamberg!

medium sized university in cute little city

The university of Bamberg has got four faculties that are all located in different parts of the city. I used to study economy bit then changed to history and politics.
The bachelor in economy was quite boring and you only got the real basics of all the different topics. The classes are mostly attended by a lot of students, so it´s not personal to study. Furthermore, the building is a 70ies ugly building which is located in the east of the city center.
This also applies for politics, but the history studies are located directly in the city and with that I mean really directly. You can even see the historic city center when you look out of the window. The classes are way smaller and it´s way more personalized.
Bamberg isn´t the city for big parties until the sun comes up again, but it has got a lot of nice bars and is famous for its beer. Bamberg has got one of the highest concentration of breweries in the world. Since the city itself is very small, the number of students is clearly visible (around 70.000 inhabitants and 13.000 students).
Student associations like AEGEE bring a lot of opportunities into the student life and make your student life a real adventure and a good time.
If I would need to choose again, I always will choose Bamberg again, but mostly because of the gorgeous city and it´s flair than because of the university, which has got a medium level.
