The Hochschule Neu Ulm university of Applied Sciences is a branch of Kempten University founded in 1994. They had only 104 students but for as today numbers of updated figures, it is now around 3900 students and counting. The staff, professors and teachers, assistant and administration employees has a total of 221. Their aim is to guarantee high quality in study and teaching.
University library is open to all students until Saturday. The library offers some tools to help students with their studying and research like:
• AllThatStats database which is now has a permanent license
• Headphones, USB sticks and mouse which can be rented
• New e-books
• SAP library
• New library catalog
English is a compulsory language but HNU requiring for a sound language training. Second foreign language were used by Business students in Spanish or French. Labor market are now looking for flexibility in communication and critical skills, HNU are offering seminars on key competences:
• Seminar series Key competences
• WPF “HNU- sustainable, social, involved”
• Elective subject “Do it! – Service learning at the HNU”

What I appreciate most about the programme is its international and practical approach. Many courses combine academic concepts with case studies, group projects and real-world communication challenges, which gives students opportunities to apply what they learn rather than focusing only on theory.
The programme also brings together students from different cultural and professional backgrounds, making discussions and teamwork particularly interesting. I have especially enjoyed projects related to communication strategy, media, research and design thinking, as they allow for both analytical and creative work.
I would recommend HNU to students who enjoy an international learning environment, are comfortable working independently and want a programme with a strong practical orientation. My experience has helped me become more confident working across cultures and approaching communication problems from different perspectives.
