As an EE Bachelor Student (called Electrical Engineering and Information Technology) at the KIT I can advise you to think twice before applying here. First off the things the Uni and Faculty don’t let you know is how unorganized the entire system of the University is, especially in this studies. FORGET ANY SORT OF VACATION. Only Holidays are given as required by law but if you expect to have a summer or winter or spring break then you are at the wrong place. It is a full time job to study here, until now (6 Semesters) I have gotten maximum 3 weeks/year vacation from exams and lectures. Would not recommend it for any foreign/international students. Other than that the exams in the Corona times were both poorly managed and also made more difficult in order to give the students the “elite” experience of University in pandemic times. The Pros for this Uni are that everyone here is suffering together and that the library used to be open 24/7 before the pandemic, as well as the ability to have some variety in courses to choose from which is to be expected from any mid to high tier University.

Walk through an institute and you’ll find a seemingly endless amount of bachelor thesis topics and master thesis topics. Furthermore KIT supports student development with free language courses for students, several offerings to learn soft skills to complement the hard skill knowledge you gain.
View moreIn my field of electrical engineering KIT is a perfect university to study at. They provide a large field of directions to specialize in, cooperations with companies as well as the tightly connected research facility in the north of Karlsruhe. A lot of international students and many student groups allow a broad student’s life where everyone can find a way to live out his or her passions. KIT is located in the southwestern town of Karlsruhe, which is of a good size for students, has interesting bars and some clubs. Furthermore Karlsruhe is a bicycle town, which means that you can reach every part of the city by bike. Highly recommendable.
