The University of Guelph stands out for its excellent food selection and a dedicated faculty, with most professors and teaching assistants demonstrating commendable support. However, I’ve noticed occasional inconsistencies in grading. Class space constraints may pose challenges for students who need/are interested in taking specific classes. The campus is pleasant and pretty, in particular, the arboretum. Most lecture halls are nice as well, and there’s lots of good study spaces. The gym has a very wide selection of machines and is nice when empty, but is typically very busy and waiting is often required to use most training machines.
View moreI liked that campus was separated from the rest of the city which enhanced the feeling of community. There were a wide variety of elective courses to choose from which kept me intrigued to learn more about a variety of subjects.
View moreGuelph has an amazing hands on approach to learning. I really enjoyed the labs, and the research projects. There was always lots of help where needed. I spent lots of time on the campus and in the library studying, I found it was a great area to focus and a very inviting environment.
View moreSo far, the program is relatively interesting and has a fair workload for a science program. I lived on campus during my first year, and, I have to admit, it was a very nice experience; they are very clean and offer lots of options in terms of food, including dietary needs and some rotating weekly and daily menus. The professors can be a bit cold, and the chemistry department is probably the worst aspect of the first year; they are very demanding and do not accommodate very often. They also are not reliable in terms of reaching out for help, even if it was their mistake. Even so, this program is definitely one that I would recommend to future students; the possibilities are endless when it comes to what you want to study and what career you want to follow.
View moreI am currently entering my 3rd year in the biological science program. The aspect of my program that I enjoy the most is the flexibility. Other programs seem limiting when it comes to selecting courses, however, I feel I am allowed more of an option so I can choose courses that cater to my interests. When it comes to student life on campus, I find all of my professors and other students to be very friendly. All of my professors have been very accommodating, especially through the transition back to in-person classes. I am however struggling when it comes to my future prospects. I have an idea of what I want to do, but I’m finding it difficult to navigate my way there. I have looked into student counselling but unfortunately haven’t found much help. Overall, I would recommend my program to other indecisive students like me who enjoy science but haven’t determined a specific field yet. I find that because the program is relatively open, students are able to explore a wide variety of scientific areas to discover or strengthen their interests in science.
