What is a Management degree?

A Management degree builds a strong foundation in a wide variety of fields including business, finance, economics and marketing. It develops students’ understanding of business practices, structures, business theory, business strategy and research as well as global economies and financial markets. Doing a Management Degree also allows students to gain skills that enable them to work with financial and numerical data effectively.

Management degrees cover different managerial roles, such as Human Resource (HR) management, hospitality management, innovation management, operations management, etc. They can be specialized into one of the areas mentioned above or follow a more general approach that covers most of these areas.

The range of management degrees is huge and includes Business Management, Management, Marketing Management, etc. They are predominantly offered in the business departments/business schools/management schools of different universities.

Benefits of a Management degree

One of the main benefits of this degree is that Management is a broad discipline, which keeps students’ career options open.

Management degrees could have a very practical focus, which is an opportunity for students to gain experience in the process of completing their degree before having started their professional careers. Management courses usually offer work placements and practical modules, which include business simulations and business creation in a simulated environment. Acquiring practical experience through these opportunities could make students stand out from the crowd in the job market once they graduate. Research-oriented Management degrees also exist for those who prefer the theoretical aspects of such a degree. Most courses, however, have established a good balance between theory and practice in order to meet the needs of all students.

Management degrees also prepare students to serve the managerial role across a wide range of areas, including HR management, hospitality management, innovation management, operations management, etc. Students can specialize in one particular area or focus on gaining knowledge across all of these areas thanks to the high availability of different management courses.

Additionally, there is a high demand for management professionals in the contemporary business world. Therefore, taking a management course is an opportunity for students to kick-start their careers and occupy a higher position in the organizational hierarchy.

management degree Structure

Management courses usually begin by introducing students to different areas covered by the managerial role, such as organizational management, business environment, statistics, accounting and finance, business growth, etc. After the first year, institutions allow students to explore the management discipline into more depth by delivering specialized modules and offering optional modules, which enable students to choose subjects that interest them the most and are most relevant to their career aspirations.

    Mind Blowing Experience

Having professors that are interested and care about your growth has been one of the mind blowing experience for me here at New Bulgarian University. Asides from that the surrounding is beautiful and refreshing. Although the feeding and accommodation options aren’t the best here at New Bulgarian University , I would say I have been blown away since I got here. Will I recommend? Definitely!

    Versatile approach to learning

I started the training after hearing very good recommendations from graduates and students. I was greeted by competent teachers who know the industry in Bulgaria well. I am currently starting my own wine business and following in the footsteps of my parents, who have also been involved in manufacturing for most of their lives. I gained a good base of administrative knowledge that one cannot get from textbooks.

    Waste of time

The program for business is terrible. First of all it’s outdated, secondly most of the professors make their lectures unproductive and boring because they don’t have a clue how to keep the interest of young people. Most of the courses throughout the 4 years of the bachelor’s degree are a true waste of time.
Most importantly the chess guy didn’t show up for a straight year and I couldn’t play chess 🥲

What I like about the program is that it is very versatile. A lot of different courses that help you acquire knowledge. The campus is really nice, people and the professors are friendly and make a good atmosphere so that you feel good while being there.

The program is very interesting and useful and gives you the needed knowledge and skills in the field. The teachers are making it easy to comprehend, learn and use the information and skills and are giving us precious advice on how we could make the most of our profession.

    Underestimated oppurtunity for Bulgarian students

This uni is very good for people who would like to pursue a complex student profile, as NBU provides its students with various options and flexibility for their development. You can choose among many programs and mix them, a bit like the US liberal arts system. The uni describes itself as humanitarian and it seeks to develop the student into not just a good professional, but a man of the world, with a mindset to always look for his/her continuing education in life and to always be aware and capable of understanding his circumstances. I believe one can achieve this task in NBU if there is a personal wish, as most of the prerequisites are provided by the uni. The material base is nice and modern. Most of the teachers are well educated, open-minded, motivated, kind and respectful. There are many interesting people to meet there, as the uni brings various types of people into one place. Students who study Economics, Law, Biology, Architecture, Arts, Music and many more. The mix is unique! Don’t hesitate to at least do your research about NBU. It’s gonna be worth it. There are many negative opinions about it from people who have either never been in it, or from those who can’t understand it. This is normal. I don’t say, however, that it’s perfect. But nothing is. I have managed to motivate young people to see it and decide for themselves with an unbiased mind, I would be happy. Thank you!
