I studied Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) at Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET) from 2014 to 2018. Overall, I would rate my experience 3 out of 5.
One of the strongest aspects of CUET is its campus environment and the friendships you build during your time there. I also had the opportunity to learn from a few excellent teachers who were knowledgeable and supportive. In addition, many of my classmates were highly talented and motivated, creating a competitive and inspiring academic atmosphere.
However, there were several areas that I believe need significant improvement. Laboratory facilities were often inadequate, with as many as eight students sharing a single test bench, and in some cases even larger groups sharing one piece of equipment. This limited the amount of hands-on experience students could gain. I also felt that some teachers were less supportive of students who struggled academically, rather than helping them improve.
The teaching approach was generally traditional and theory-oriented, with limited use of real-world examples to explain engineering concepts. Laboratory sessions often lacked effective instruction, and programming education was weaker than I expected for an engineering curriculum. Another drawback was the lack of structured guidance for students interested in research. Unless students actively sought opportunities themselves, they received little direction on how to get involved.
That said, I believe some of these challenges are common across many public universities in Bangladesh rather than being unique to CUET.
I would still recommend CUET to prospective students, but with realistic expectations. Students who are self-motivated, willing to learn independently, and proactive in seeking opportunities can build a strong engineering foundation and have a rewarding university experience.
View more CUET is about 20 km far from the main Chittagong city. Personally I like the nature, the green, the rain of my campus. At the same time I also enjoy the residential life of CUET. We live together, study together. The atmosphere of study is good. But students are not always interested in extra curricular activities. The teachers are not always helpful many of them are quiet arrogant. The syllabus isn’t also up to date. In emergency case there may should be taken online class but this type of infrastructure isn’t rare. University provide a mail but it deactivate automatically after using five/six years ; students might have important academic material. There are many problems in CUET which should be fixed. But now CUET authority is trying to do something really good- providing free wifi, building dedicated research center, solve residential crisis and so on.
If someone who grew up and used to in urban life this might not be the place they wanted. Also the lab equipments most of them are old. University don’t have paid subscriptions of software we need to use instead of those labs. Most of the softwares are cracked. Also most of the student don’t get enough protien in there food which might be a major concern. Due to academic pressure and other issues most of the students can’t lead a healthy Lifestyle.
As a senior I won’t recommended CUET.
Studying at Chittagong University of Engineering & Technology (CUET) was a life-changing journey for me. It wasn’t always easy—the academic pressure was tough—but it made me stronger, more disciplined, and confident in my abilities. The peaceful campus and supportive teachers really helped me grow, not just as a student but as a person. CUET will always have a special place in my heart.
View moreThis is one of the most prestigious engineering universities in Bangladesh. The environment, classroom,,labs, professors everything is very rich and suitable in most of the departments. There is also a good scope for students to join extra curricular activities. And every year many campaigns takes place in the campus which is very helpful for the students for their upcoming job life. This varsity is rich in every aspect expect for the research facilities. Although this sector is also improving day by day,but the lab instruments and research facilities should be more abundant for the students to shine more. Student accommodation along with the food of cafeteria is also day by day upgrading. Overall,as an Engineering University Cuet is successfully producing many talent and promising engineers every year.
View moreThe university offers a well-structured and updated syllabus, which is definitely a strong point. However, the overall learning experience is affected by the teaching approach of some instructors. Many teachers struggle to explain concepts in a way that matches students’ understanding levels, making it difficult to fully grasp the material.
Additionally, the strict attendance policy requires students to attend classes regularly, but the sessions often feel monotonous and unengaging. This creates a situation where students are physically present but not actively learning.
Improving teaching methods and making classes more interactive would greatly enhance the academic experience and help students benefit more from the strong syllabus.
View moreIn my university the curriculum is mostly theoretical and i feel lack of real-life experience.
Sometimes the workload felt overwhelming, leaving me stressed and sleep deprived but the effort was not so effective for the job life.
The natural surroundings of my university are amazing. All students have access to adequate on-campus accommodation facilities. However, the educational syllabus needs to be more balanced and up to date. The academic and administrative systems should become more digital and technology-driven. Additionally, students expect a more friendly and supportive environment.
View moreChittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET) is a premier public institution in Bangladesh that provides a rigorous academic environment and a strong foundation in engineering principles. Having experienced the curriculum firsthand, I can attest to the high quality of the faculty and their dedication to research, particularly within the core engineering departments. The campus itself is a significant highlight; often referred to as a “green heaven,” its serene landscape of hills and lakes offers an ideal atmosphere for academic focus. However, as is common in a developing nation, the university faces certain challenges, including a lack of the latest high-end technologies and modern laboratory instruments compared to global standards.
Overall, CUET is a top choice for students seeking a challenging engineering education within a beautiful, nature-oriented setting.
This public enginnering university has a green campus which attracts the students from all over the country, it has adventurous hall life also. But the departments, classrooms are deprived of basic student friendly resources, smartboards,ACs. It is due to mismanagement of govt. funds which are not implemented and misused by the authority. The location is also in one side of the city that’s why modern facilities aren’t reachable easily. Overall i would recommend this varsity if someone has passion in any subject offered here.
View moreCUET offers a solid academic environment, especially for engineering students who are serious about building strong technical fundamentals. The faculty members are generally knowledgeable and supportive, and the curriculum is well-structured for core engineering subjects. Lab facilities are decent, though some departments could benefit from updated equipment.
Campus life is শান্ত and focused, which is great for study but may feel limited in terms of extracurricular diversity compared to larger universities. Hostel life is manageable, though improvements in food quality and facilities would make a big difference.
One of the strongest aspects is the peer group—motivated and competitive, which pushes you to grow. However, administrative processes can sometimes be slow.
Overall, I would recommend CUET to students who prioritize academics and a disciplined environment over a very vibrant social life.
