UQ is one of the top under 50 universities in the world for Psychology. I did my bachelor’s in psychology here and the teaching staff is really helpful and boasts with a passion for their subjects. The research facilities is well equipped with advanced technology which enabled me to access an exceptional educational experience, contributing to my professional development. UQ also offers many student activities that help support our social and emotional well-being, allowing students to enjoy and unwind.
View moreThe University of Queensland is one of the world-class universities, given its high-ranking place around the world. The campus at Brisbane Australia has one of the best views and infrastructure, I would highly recommend this school.
View moreOverall, my opinion on the University of Queensland is a positive one. I have been lucky enough to have informative lecturers and tutors on most occasions. While the academic side of UQ has been positive for myself, more practical elements of the campus have been inconvenient.
Lecturers and tutors in the psychology department at UQ are lovely, informative and organised. The content covered in the courses is relevant and interesting.
Parking at UQ is awful. People who rely on private transportation have to continuously fight for parking, most of which is quite expensive. UQ often hosts sports events for primary and secondary schools in the Brisbane area without informing students, therefore many students drive to university to find out the limited parking spaces have been filled by parents. UQ seems to tell the staff about this however. Several times now I have driven to university on one of these carnival days only to find out when I arrive, leading me to be late to important tutorials.
Another consideration is the practicality of the timetabling. UQ has an extremely large campus, with some classrooms being at least 15-20 minute walks away from each other. There is only a 10min break between classes so getting to back-to-back classes on time can be difficult.
Some departments receive significantly more funding than others, which is seen in the quality of the buildings. Some of the psychology buildings are very dingy, with smells of water damage and dust. This is striking in comparison to the newer developments in the more traditional STEM buildings.
View moreThe university of Queensland provides many flexible opportunities for learning within this field of area. Furthermore, this place also contains many facilities that cater to the student’s needs. Overall, most students are respectful of each others backgrounds and the study experience has been quite pleasant.
