I was a grad student in organic chemistry. The faculty are globally-known for being ‘problematic’, to put it mildly. The level of abuse is very high, and the good people (ie: non-faculty, or non-organic faculty, or maybe new organic faculty?) have no ability to change it. I am white but I was shocked by the level of racism and sexism here. Any -ism you like, really. I guess otherwise, it prepared me well, once I’d got over the legitimate trauma of being in the organic chemistry department.
View moreI was offered a chance to study animal science at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and the training and learning experience was excellent and recommendable. I liked the school environment and the people around here, they were lovely and very accommodative. My personal experience was superb.
View moreI enjoyed studying at this university because of the amazing people I met here. The campus life was more fun because of the friendly student community. The dorms are very nice and we’ll maintained. Foods served are also amazing. The university is generally great. Greek life is prominent but there’s still much diversity. I would recommend the university
View moreThis is a huge university that is able to offer you just about anything. I have had great experiences with all of my professors, and do not feel like just a number among all the other students. Depending on your major, the ratio of prof to student will change, but in my experience, in my more important and specialized courses there is typically 1 teacher for about 20 students. Great people, great resources, great academics, great food, great party atmosphere, and great networking.
View moreWhile it’s scary going in, students are assured that there are advisors to support them throughout the way as long as they make the effort to push themselves forward. While I haven’t started classes, I trust that I will be in good hands.
