UW is a great value school for in-state students. However, academically it can be super competitive and cutthroat especially for those going into STEM fields. If you’re not a direct admit, it’ll be extremely hard to get the major you want and you’ll have to get stellar grades in weedout classes to stand out. Most of the weedout classes the first few years are really difficult with low averages and you’re teaching yourself most of the material. Professors are available but you have to take initiative to get help if you’re really struggling. Location wise it’s in a beautiful area, but the UDistrict itself is super unsafe and you have to be careful all the time. The UW has a lot of great resources and amenities like a great gym, tons of libraries and study spaces and RSOs to be involved in. The school itself is super diverse and you’ll meet tons of different people (but most are from Washington).
View morei love uw! love the campus and the friends i’ve made there! classes are super competitive, but manageable. the one downside is presciences, which makes getting the major you want very competitive. i love uw!
View moreIt has been great attending the university so far, made great friends and learnt a great deal. The University as a whole has a small town vibe in the big city and has great infrastructure overall too. 100/100 recommend
View moreThis university is huge, in terms of people and area. The people are competitive and the environment can sometimes be challenging. However, that’s what makes it fun for me and keeps me motivated. A lot of opportunities in and outside the class!
