While at BU, I was involved off-campus with Boston University’s Literacy Development Program and the Intergenerational Literacy Program, both of which were incredibly influential and helped prepare me to become a teacher. I have also served as a resident assistant on campus, represented the Faculty of Education as a Student Council Senator, and volunteered with the Community Service Center Empowerment Coalition, all of which have been very positive experiences. However, Boston University is a large university and many people, especially students in the College of Arts and Sciences, find it difficult to find community. By being proactive and exploring all that Boston University had to offer and being involved in many organizations during my freshman year, I was able to develop relationships with professors and other students that I still value today. It wasn’t my first choice when I originally applied, but it turned out to be the perfect choice for me! “
View moreDue to being in the summer session all of my classes were online. This worked great with my work schedule as I could attend classes at night. Also, all the assignments for the summer were uploaded at the beginning of the class so that we could work through them at our own pace. For example, if I knew there was a busy week coming up I could work ahead and still complete all my work.
