Very good university, with students and teachers that care

The university is great, although the location is not so good. There are not a lot of facilities around Preston’s as it is not a big city. But at least Manchester is really close by. Overall is a good university with good international environment.

Wouldnt recommend it because there is a lack of decent lecturers that can be understood or that explain things properly
Organisation is terrible and money isn’t funded correctly in right departments
The location is alright and it’s a peaceful town

    Studying facilities, Educational requirments

To begin with, I really enjoyed my time in that university. In terms of student life, this place is awesome, huge amount of clubs, bars and places you can go to with your friends of course mates. Amazing studying facilities, I was doing Electronic Engineering and we had access to many labs 24/7, all labs were fully equipped with newest tools, powerful pcs, we even had 3D printers for free usage. In each of those labs was an available store where students could order whatever they need for their projects. Accommodation facilities really depend on what kind of person you are, if you like to spend all your time surrounded by people than student halls is for you, otherwise, I would go the studio. Now again when I came there the first year I didn’t know about many good places to live so I just chose one from the official university website and honestly, they are not so good. It is a better idea to just search for private accommodations not related to uni, as it will be a cheaper choice. About professors, well some of them were really helpful and determined to make you understand their material and some were not so good. One of the main drawbacks I didn’t enjoy is the fact that some teachers didn’t speak english on the required for teaching level.

    Studying facilities, Educational requirments

Overall, I am satisfied with the quality of the education UCLAN provides. I liked studying facilities: Huge number of labs with the latest equipment, powerfull pcs, 3D-Printers, availability to use labs any time I need them as they are open 24/7 and only engineering students have access to them. Special engineering store where it is easy to borrow or oreder any kind of items needed for education sarting with wires and finishing with ASIC chips and boards, microcontrollers etc…
I also liked the fact that majority of teachers are available if you need to discuss something realted to your studies or if you have questions about some topics previously explained in the class.
The drawback, was that some teachers are not fluent in English so even if they are willing to help it takes some extra effort to make them understand your questions and also understand their explanaitions.
