My year on the MA in Educational Leadership and Management at the University of Nottingham has been a really positive experience, both academically and personally.

This is a fairly specialized and emerging field, and one of the highlights is being face to face with a professor who is genuinely one of the leading voices in the area. Teaching is delivered mainly through seminars, so you can get direct, interactive contact with your tutors rather than sitting in large lecture halls. Tutors are also very approachable outside class; they’re happy to follow up with further guidance whenever you need it, so reaching them is never a problem.

The university’s infrastructure is another strong point. Just as the name of the main campus—University Park—suggests, you can truly find your favorite spot on this modern campus, surrounded by greenery, to study, exercise, and relax. By the way, if you are sportive, you will definitely be attracted by the excellent gym facilities.

The student body is quite diverse, with people from a wide range of backgrounds, which makes day-to-day interactions and discussions much richer. The university also regularly organises social and networking events that bring international and local students together, which goes a long way in building a welcoming, open community.

If I had to mention something to improve, maintenance requests in student accommodation can take a little while to be resolved. I’d also love to see a bit more field-based, hands-on activity built into the course. Though I do appreciate that organising site visits involves a lot of compliance and logistical work, so this is more of a personal wish than a real shortcoming.
