Kenyatta University (reviews)

I studied Bachelor of Education at Kenyatta University, and it gave me a strong foundation for my teaching career. The course was well organized, and I learned both the theory and practical skills needed to become an effective teacher. Most of the lecturers were knowledgeable, supportive, and encouraged students to do their best. I also enjoyed interacting with students from different backgrounds and taking part in campus activities. The library and other learning resources were helpful, although some administrative services, such as registration, could sometimes be slow. Overall, I had a positive experience and would recommend Kenyatta University to anyone who wants to build a successful career in education.

I found the coursework in Kenyatta University’s MBA program to be good. The lecturers were knowledgeable, and the classes provided a solid foundation in business and management. If the program were judged on coursework alone, I would rate it highly.

Unfortunately, my experience changed completely once I reached the project/thesis stage. The process was disorganized, slow, and frustrating. Delays in approvals, supervisor feedback, and administrative procedures turned what should have been a straightforward research project into a lengthy ordeal. In my experience, it is possible to spend years trying to complete the thesis because of these inefficiencies.

The graduation process was just as frustrating. Clearing the required administrative steps felt unnecessarily complicated and time-consuming. My impression was that having someone on the inside who could help navigate the system made the process much easier. Without that kind of assistance, graduating felt like an uphill battle.

Because of my experience, I would not recommend Kenyatta University’s MBA program. While the coursework is strong, the problems with the thesis and graduation processes outweigh those positives. If you’re investing your time, money, and effort in an MBA, you should be able to complete the program and graduate within a reasonable timeframe without having to struggle through unnecessary administrative obstacles.

This is a great university with great infrastructure and culture. One thing that is outstanding about this University is how the learning curve takes place. From lecturers, lecture halls, lectures, exam coordination, markings and results. Everything happens in a very orderly manner. At no point will you experience cases of missing marks, unlike many other universities. All lecturers are punctual, always delivering content with few to no missing classes. Exams are always marked in time and results released on time. The system works so well that it feels automated.
Another aspect that I like about the university is the facilities. Facilities that students use in the university are world class. The hostels are super clean and well maintained, the grass on the pitches are always kept short and watered, the pathways are always cleaned and maintained, flowers are always watered and pruned and so much more.
This is one university that I will always recommend to other people.

1. Administrative Bureaucracy and Delays
This is a frequent and significant complaint. Navigating the administration—from registering for units to resolving issues like “missing marks” or securing documentation—can be notoriously slow, complex, and frustrating.

2. Inconsistent Infrastructure
While the university has some modern facilities (like the UoN Towers), many hostels and older structures are aging, leading to overcrowding and maintenance issues that affect the quality of student living.

3. Intense Academic Pressure and Large Class Sizes
The university maintains a rigorous academic standard, which can be stressful. Coupled with large class sizes in popular programs, the individual student-to-lecturer interaction may be limited, demanding high levels of self-discipline.

4. Disruption from Industrial Action
UoN has historically been susceptible to student or faculty strikes, which can disrupt the academic calendar and delay graduation timelines.
