My year on the MA in Educational Leadership and Management at the University of Nottingham has been a really positive experience, both academically and personally.
This is a fairly specialized and emerging field, and one of the highlights is being face to face with a professor who is genuinely one of the leading voices in the area. Teaching is delivered mainly through seminars, so you can get direct, interactive contact with your tutors rather than sitting in large lecture halls. Tutors are also very approachable outside class; they’re happy to follow up with further guidance whenever you need it, so reaching them is never a problem.
The university’s infrastructure is another strong point. Just as the name of the main campus—University Park—suggests, you can truly find your favorite spot on this modern campus, surrounded by greenery, to study, exercise, and relax. By the way, if you are sportive, you will definitely be attracted by the excellent gym facilities.
The student body is quite diverse, with people from a wide range of backgrounds, which makes day-to-day interactions and discussions much richer. The university also regularly organises social and networking events that bring international and local students together, which goes a long way in building a welcoming, open community.
If I had to mention something to improve, maintenance requests in student accommodation can take a little while to be resolved. I’d also love to see a bit more field-based, hands-on activity built into the course. Though I do appreciate that organising site visits involves a lot of compliance and logistical work, so this is more of a personal wish than a real shortcoming.
View moreI studied my masters of Education at Nottingham. I enjoyed the way the coarse was set up and the mentor I was assigned was very good and she kept me on track.
One of the negatives would be the cost of study for international students and it is high in most countries. I did my PGCE with them and would have thought that would have made the costs more affordable.
I would recommend the university. Even more so, if you are a UK national.
View moreThe campus was stunning and lecturers friendly, I can see why the University of Nottingham is rated so well. However, my own personal experience was hindered due to Covid. Overall I think my department handled it well but the social and in-person aspect of uni lacked.
View moreOverall, so far I’ve somewhat enjoyed my experience here. Student union is nice and has many facilities. I also like that it is run by students. Students’ voices are reflected. My class is in a new building, so the campus is far from SU and other campuses, so it’s pretty isolated from other campuses. I think However, since it is still a new building, the level of facilities is not high. As for the course itself… I have written two essays and will be taking tests for a class soon, but I honestly don’t feel I have had much support in completing these tasks in my own capacity. Tasks and tests seem very abrupt and abrupt in my opinion. Otherwise, I’ve really enjoyed the course so far.
View moreThe tutors are super friendly and supportive, they always make time for their tutees. The course itself is really full on and there is a lot to do but there is a good structure that makes it achievable and workable. The university is so close to the city centre so student life has always been good and there are plenty of chances to socialise.
View moreHave really enjoyed my time in Nottingham. The campus is a great place to study, and having the city on your doorstep means you get the best of both worlds. The course is really well organised and the staff are great.
