Having visited several universities, I chose Nottingham University because it is such a lovely place to be and I preferred the campus with halls and departments quite close to each other, rather than living in a city centre and using public transport to get to lectures. Get yourself a bicycle and you have the freedom to cycle around campus, visit your friends in different halls or cycle down the hill to lectures. Oh of course, then there’s the cycle back uphill when you’re tired after lectures! The library is open 24/7 which is an amazing bonus for the night owls and insomniacs. As a Biology student, I loved the diverse interests of my lecturers and professors from Neurobiology to Parasitology topics which still interest me to this very day. Next door to the campus is Wollaton Park with its herd of deer and miles to cycle and walk around on a sunny summer’s day. Also, Wollaton Hall is now Nottingham Natural History Museum with plenty to see and do. In summary, Nottingham is like a student town, the campus with a 25-minute walk to the city centre for nightlife, restaurants and shopping. What better way to study for your degree and lay the perfect foundation for your future!
