The student life at Cardiff University is amazing, with an active and engaging students’ union that takes into consideration the desires and opinions of their students. In terms of education, my specific school (JOMEC) was incredibly organised, and the lecturers communicated well and always provided useful feedback.

The JOMEC school, although quite far from the campus is very modern and clean. The facilities are great and it is even located next to the BBC building. The content is fun to learn as well which elevates the experience. There are many other facilities as well such as the CSL and the SU which are both great places for students to hang out and be productive.

I love studying at Cardiff University because you can feel that the voices of all students are respected here, I can find the latest publications of the day in my college, a great social environment, and a diverse group of classmates.

Currently, I am a Cardiff University student who has just entered my second year on my course – Media, Journalism and Culture. Upon this review I will provide an honest account, acknowledging the current climate in regards to both strikes and the global pandemic.
Granted, life has, for the most part, returned to a social sense of normality with few exceptions, yet I will say that Cardiff University has been very acknowledging of the pandemic and hope it may have effected our studies. There remains to be hand sanitiser, tissues etc. at hand throughout the facilities.
On the topic, the facilities are slick and very hygienic and the university offers very good services such as 24 hour libraries which are crucial to benefitting studies, especially due to the experience being largely independent learning in my experience.
Adhering to honesty, the teaching strikes and marking strikes hugely took a toll on my core in first year. I was getting hardly any teaching in the second semester, even without lecture slides as it apparently ‘defeated the point’, yet I was still expected to d the exams based on the lecture content that I was not provided.
Additionally, my exams were then not marked due to the marking strike, therefore my tuition in that sense was not of equal value to my teaching.
The teaching is fairly balanced, a few of my lectures are enthusiastic and kind, whilst others seem to only provide their own opinions and articles as readings, lacking any enthusiasm or encouragement and communication. Yet of course, that does not speak for all staff, especially the seminar tutors who, for the most part, are very helpful and kind.
Going into my second year, one week in, already there is more of a demand to get the course in its peak. I believe following last year’s disruptions staff would really like to see a more productive year which I can appreciate.
Being a Russell Group university, I am excited to have a greater experience this year and am excited for then opportunities already being offered to be such as placements and study abroad opportunities.
Currently, I would give Cardiff three stars out of five as I am sure that many universities in the UK have suffered just as much in previous years and I am willing to experience the hopeful change in experience.

Cardiff university gave me the best university life experience that I could ask for. The entire Cardiff being Cardiff university’s campus, the events and youth societies being so well managed. Professors doing justice with name of the college, offering quick advice and assistance.
Where I studies my course of Masters in International Public Relations and Global Communication Management was from The school of journalism media and culture college, Cardiff university. The school having developed to be the 2nd best media studies college in the UK. School situated right opposite BBC office, right next to the train station. Classes and full online assistance provided by the professors at the school, to ensure teaching is at the level of university name.
I do and I will always recommend people and friends to take admission in Cardiff University.

The content and the lecturers are great. Accommodation is very cheap but not great quality though. Enjoy shopping, arcades and the nightlife. The facilities are excellent and I joined the Psych society. Su is excellent and support offer counselling and career advice. Ok job prospects.

Interesting lectures and curriculum. I gained more hands-on experience and it would benefit my occupation a lot.
However, there are limited internship opportunities for students. I would recommend uni in London, Bristol and other big cities.

It was a successful experience. The professors were informative, nice, and cordial. Excellent student body; kind, welcoming community. Despite my minor dissatisfaction, I thought the course material was great in general.

The program curriculum is up to the mark. However, the method of delivery through online recorded lectures is not good enough. On-campus seminar sessions are quite exciting. Cardiff is affordable for students and easy to access.

I am a second year media and journalism student at the Cardiff University. I am an international student and my experience with cardiff university has been amazing so far. Lot of opportunities and the support they provide are good.
