The Chemistry and Biology program at the University of Bath is exceptional for students who enjoy hands-on learning. Weekly lab sessions are a highlight, allowing us to apply theoretical concepts in a practical environment. The facilities are state-of-the-art, and the support from PhD demonstrators during lab sessions is invaluable. The interdisciplinary approach of combining chemistry with biology opens up diverse career paths in research, healthcare, and industry.
The tutorials are small and interactive, fostering a supportive learning environment where complex topics are broken down effectively. However, the workload can be intense, especially during exam periods, requiring strong time management skills. The placement year is another major advantage, offering industry exposure that enhances career prospects.
Campus environment and size is good. Buses to and from uni can be slow. Bath city is great to live in. The course was as expected and tutorial sizes are good. However, lecturers teaching varies and can be hard to follow. I would recommend this uni.
View moreVery friendly campus and great laboratory facilities for the science students like myself. Very sports orientated and lots of opportunities for novice or beginners. Very supportive student union and a warm and welcoming campus community for first years.
View moreThe university itself is well equipped, the professors were great and the courses were taught in depth. In fact, it did not matter I was an exchange student just for the semester, I underwent the same treatment and I was equal to the rest of the students, which I really liked. The university has all the kind of clubs and organizations that students are free to join. Chess club, book club, sports teams… even a wheelchair basketball team open to everyone and inclusive for people with disabilities.
There is high level of internationality among the students and the fact it is England really makes your Erasmus+ time in the city easier as everyone speaks English! The only drawback is the living cost – too high for student life, especially because the Erasmus+ grant was not even close to cover the costs. I can only imagine for students with no scholarship/grant support.
