Walking around IE you know everyone, everyone is friendly, and the general environment just feels extremely homey and like a community. Aside from the family-like environment, the classes are very participation-based, interactive and foster independent thinking.
View moreAn excellent academic institution formed by an eclectic international community that enriches every classroom by developing a holistic approach to the established curriculum. With its focus on promoting innovation, it fosters students who are ready to face the challenges of today and tomorrow.
View moreGreat professors, one can really take advantage of all their opportunities such as their lectures, fairs and professional events. Classes are also small so education is personalised and you can really learn from your peers.
View moreIE University is a wonderful experience if you want to study abroad and enjoy a multicultural environment that will allow you to build very powerful contacts from all around the world. The facilities are incredible, as this year they unveiled the IE Tower, and the professors are incredibly qualified and will spend office hours helping you without any problem!
View moreInstituto de Empresa, more commonly known as ‘IE University offers a wide variety of programs, but its main objective is Business-related programs. Coming to IE and wanting to pursue a career in the legal field, I was unsure at first whether an ‘LLB’ program would meet my expectations. Fortunately, I was not disappointed, and IE has proven its ability to truly provide a program suitable for everyone while simultaneously also keeping its high standards of education.
All of the professors I have encountered so far have a high level of education in their chosen field and likewise, they have been extremely knowledgeable and passionate about their profession. This certainly encourages the students to strive for a maximum level of their abilities.
Additionally, professors tend to be very open and genuine about their careers, presenting us with their personal experiences, but also maintaining an unbiased approach in order to assist in case of any doubts or struggles.
In accordance with IE’s philosophy, there is a wide variety of different opportunities for everyone, regardless of the chosen degree, desired workload, or even some personal preferences. Participating in such seminars or labs offered by the IE, all of the students are able to obtain invaluable hands-on experience, while inevitably also enriching their CVs. Together with constant guidance by career advisors, this allows IE students to secure their desired jobs positions upon graduation.
I chose this university because some friends who had studied there had told me it was a great experience, and it’s true. It has excellent facilities and a faculty that always encourages you to do your best. They motivate you a lot and guide you in a way I hadn’t seen before. They are very approachable professors and are attentive to how they can optimize your studies. I made good friends there, I have good memories of that experience, and I might even pursue some further studies because it left a very positive impression on me.
View moreIE provides students with an international approach to higher education. Throughout our curriculum we are constantly exposed to real world issues and are asked to tackle them with the course knowledge that we have obtained. I have to say that the truly hands on curriculum especially within the law department really prepares us to tackle legal issues from a variety of different perspectives and legal systems. The LLB program is further complemented by its comparative nature (given the internationality of the university), which expects students to tackle legal issues in a variety of jurisdictions. Not only does this approach allow us as students to compare and contrast jurisdictional approaches to legal issues, it also foments a legal mind. The BIR program is similarly complemented by the university’s internationality and it’s hand on approach; BIR classes are not purely theory, in these classes we are expected to produce high level papers on current issues to see how our conceptual understanding of international relations applies to the real world. Overall the university in this regard is extremely innovative and international, allowing students to be as prepared as possible for the real world.
The one issue I have with IE it’s near obsessive focus on business. Throughout the university and indeed within our courses there is a big push to become an entrepreneur and/or choose buisness as a focus of study. This can also be seen in the internship opportunities provided to students which are primarily in the private sector (at least for undergrads). The same attention is not necessarily given in the same way to opportunities to be found in the public sector. This is a minor issue but I think it is an important consideration when selecting a university. IE provides it’s students with a myriad of opportunities both in and outside school. The attention to detail when it comes to student led startups and other projects is something you will not find anywhere else, but as a result it can feel like non business oriented students are left behind.
Overall IE is an incredible university which in many ways allows students to thrive and pursue their passions. Their hands on approach paired with a high attentiveness to student projects in my opinion is the best feature of the university experience at IE.
View moreThe university offers amazing and unique degrees, which will certainly advance anyone’s career opportunities. In particular, the various dual degrees offer great curricula and study opportunities. Moreover, IE really is an extremely international university with students from all over the world. Although most are Latin American and European, there are also students from Japan, Hong Kong, Canada, US, Marocco, etc. Furthermore, the class sizes are small such that there is a close relationship with the professors and one can engage in many interesting discussions, and the university focuses on practical matters. Thus, any student will learn more than simply the theory but also how to apply it in the professional field, preparing them extremely well for their later careers. Regarding the professors, there are some absolutely amazing professors – some of the best ones I have ever had the pleasure of teaching me – but also some professors who hardly speak any English, have no knowledge of how to teach in an understandable and organized manner and sometimes might even not have sufficient knowledge regarding the subject matter whatsoever. The mix of high and low quality teachers is certainly a byproduct from having rather unique degrees taught in English in a Spanish-speaking country, thus understandable, yet unacceptable regardless. Nevertheless, overall I am extremely satisfied with the learning experience and feel qualified for my future profession in law. The biggest problem, however, is the subpar student body. Due to Spanish regulations, the university is forced to continuously grow, thus, being forced to accept too many students, which should not be accepted, resulting in many students who are unmotivated, disinterested and underqualified for their university studies. Regardless, there are certainly many highly intelligent, passionate and dedicated students with an extremely international background that cannot be found elsewhere. Overall, I am happy to be studying at this university, but there are still many things that need to be changed. The university itself, however, does seem to be open to hearing from students. Finally, no matter what degree one is studying there is a focus on business matters.
View moreStudying at IE University is such an amazing experience. The international environment is enriching and so are the programs. The method is very practical, unlike most Spanish universities, which results optimal for career prospects and real life.
Apart from studies, the facilities and location are great. There is also great student life, with multiple clubs you can join.
View moreMy degree is very fulfilling. I study Politics, Philosophy, Law, and Economics. Given the multiple subjects, there is a sufficient amount of academic intensity however it is very manageable. There is ample extra reading provided for students who want to investigate further. There is an adequate balance between syllabus driven learning and self-interest driven learning.
One area that I believe IE university lacks is socio-economic diversity. While the university is decently ethically and culturally diverse, given that it is a private university, the majority of students come from rather wealthy backgrounds. This makes it difficult for scholarship students to fully integrate. Additionally, this is reflected in the teachings. Most teachers are from Spain and almost all case studies discussed in my degree are only in relation to Europe. As a non-European, I find it hard to follow and contribute to conversations.
