My experience at the University of Pretoria has been both challenging and rewarding. The university promotes academic excellence while encouraging students to grow personally and professionally. Being part of UP has helped me develop discipline, critical thinking skills, and independence. Academically, the standards are high, and the workload can be demanding. However, this has pushed me to engage more deeply with my studies and improve my problem-solving abilities. Many lecturers are knowledgeable and supportive, and resources such as libraries, online learning platforms, and consultation opportunities make it easier to manage academic challenges. The campus environment is vibrant and diverse, offering opportunities to interact with people from different backgrounds. UP also provides various extracurricular activities, student organisations, and leadership opportunities that contribute to personal development beyond academics.
View moreI really enjoyed my time spent at the university of pretoria. A great institution where the best CA’s in South Africa are created. A very tough program, especially towards the end, but one that is very rewarding once conquered.
View moreI must say that my experience here has been nothing short of amazing. The campus is absolutely stunning, with picturesque surroundings and state-of-the-art facilities that truly make studying here a pleasure. The professors are incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about their subjects, always willing to go the extra mile to ensure that we understand the material. The diverse range of courses offered allows me to explore different interests and gain a well-rounded education. The student community is vibrant and welcoming, with plenty of opportunities to get involved in clubs, societies, and events on campus. I have made lifelong friends here and feel a real sense of belonging.

View moreCommunication sucks. I’ve studied there for 3 years now. Beginning of this year, when I wanted to register on my UP Portal, the site threw out a notification that says User has no current UP Portal role. I sent email 1 and waited 24 hours as they had promised to get back to me within the first 24 hours. I only recieved an automated reply. So I sent email 2. Still no reply, then I sent email 3. By the time I had sent the sixth email I was fed up. I only recieved automated responses. So I called them. The guy gave me a case number. He told me he had to sent the problem to someone else as he could not solve it. He promised that these people will contact me within the first 10 hours. It’s a day later and I still haven’t been contacted. I called them again and a lady is doing a follow up for me (she did contact me back which is better than the previous seven experiences). This is not my first time struggling to sort things out due to communication and people not doing their jobs. I understand that some people can be on holiday, but then don’t open registration so early or make empty promises.
View moreThe worst university in SA is unquestionably UP. They communicate in a completely absurd and subpar manner. Their financial division is top-notch. They take weeks to respond to emails, and you never get the same input from each consultant. The manager is never free. He’s not deserving of a manager. It is not something I would advise.
View moreIt is a very good and lively university. All staff is extremely friendly and helpful. I could have not chosen a better university. The student life on the ups campus is amazing as perfectly accommodates students.
