History

On the 6th April 1913 The Academy of Higher Level Commercial and Industrial Studies became the first economic higher education institution established in Romania by the Royal Decree of Carol I. It hosts 13 centres of research acknowledged and endorsed by the National Council of Scientific Research in Higher Education.

In 2005, the university adopted the Bologna declaration, which requires that undergraduate studies are three years long, and that master’s programmes are two years long. The undergraduate studies are completed with a total of 180 credits, and graduate programmes with 120. The PhD programmes have a minimum length of three years.

The Academy has 12 faculties altogether. The academic activity is supported by various administrative structures such as departments, centres, and committees.

For the candidates who would like to study in foreign languages, the Bucharest Academy of Economic Studies offers the following bachelor’s programmes in English, French or German:

• English – Accounting and Management Information Systems, Business Administration, Business Administration in Trading, Tourism, Services, Commodity Science and Quality Management, Economic Informatics, Finance and Banking, International Business and Economics, Management, Marketing
• French – Business Administration
• German – Business Administration

Life as a Bucharest Academy of Economic Studies Student

Students enjoy the presence of numerous student associations. They organise projects for personal development of students, public speaking, communication, theatre festivals, theme parties. At the same time, there are numerous workshops, trainings, and conferences organised by well-known companies that help students to guide their career.

The university offers accommodation with students being assigned to their homes according to the results obtained during a university year.
