Globalisation strengthens the connection between companies from all over the world. It is time people understand the importance of international business.
International business degrees are shaped to give students practical knowledge about different business management practices from all over the world. In addition, candidates are prepared for business careers abroad or in organisations that are engaged in business on a global scale.
Moreover, international business is vital in order to understand different cultures and mindsets and ultimately become a global citizen.
A degree in International Business prepares you for a job in a culturally diverse business environment, which means that any graduate can benefit from opportunities in any country.
The advantage of an International Business course is that you are highly employable for most industries since the majority of skills acquired are transferable.
Candidates studying international business will also gain information and insight about the difficulties of starting and growing businesses from different countries, something which is of utmost importance for anyone who wants to make their business thrive.
International Business is usually a three-year commitment, depending on each university. Lately, there are institutions which offer the possibility of having a ‘sandwich course’, which basically enables the candidates to work abroad for one year in the industry, as part of their studies.
The purpose of the ‘sandwich course’ is to encourage students to step outside their comfort zone and work in a different culture and environment. In this way, they will understand other mentalities, as well as gain relevant working experience in the field.
Really hands-on experience, with tons of international students. Great student vibe and lots of out-of-class actions. Professors have good practical experience and help outside of class hours. I can recommend!
View moreAs a student of a stream in luxury management, the courses taught (related to the topic) were very interesting and relevant in order to understand how the luxury market truly works. It is a very practical course with several group projects but definitely has contributed to my learning. Also, every group project was in partnership with well-known companies and challenges that these were currently facing.
View moreI would definitely recommend Nova School of Economics to all students wishing to pursue a career in the business field due to the notoriety of the university, the level of internationality and the amazing lifestyle and campus.
View moreI’m an exchange student from Chile in the NOVA SBE. I chose to come here because I heard it was a great school and it was very accurate to my expectations. I liked the activities to welcome the exchange students, the international department really puts a lot of effort into it. I had very different subjects from a regular core, like International Management, Modern and Contemporary History and Global Business Environment, so it was great to have a broader perspective. In terms of accommodation, the university didn’t offer much support. They do have a leaflet with some options though, and uniplaces was also very useful. I personally wasn’t very integrated in the student initiatives but I heard there are plenty of them at Nova, from finance clubs till tech clubs. Life in Lisbon is chilled and there are many things to do. The night life is great and you have things to do for every person! From pubs to bars to clubs, with every kind of music. The campus is quite big and new, perfect for the studying environment. I recommend future students to participate in all the activities, and enjoy the beach a lot in the summer.
View moreNOVA SBE pushes students not only to reach academic excellence but, even more, a high level of personal development. The course contents are complemented by various assignments that promote real-life application – multiple presentations, group assignments, case studies, business projects and more. Besides the academic curricula, the school offers students multiple opportunities for extracurricula activities that make a difference in the students’ CVs such as students clubs, workshops, and conferences. After completing both a bachelors and masters degree at NOVA SBE, I felt completely prepared for my first professional experience as I had already dealt with many similar challenges as a university student.
View moreBesides its great academia you find an environment thriving with organizations and new ideas.
It all adds up to the lectures so that you can learn in and outside class. A feeling of mutual help is also felt.
Nova is a great school in terms of the people you meet along the way, the networking opportunities you get, and the stamp of approval you get on your cv afterwards, that Portuguese companies tend to recognize while recruiting.
They push students as much as possible which means you will get a lot of work ethics.
That being said, it is an expensive school for what it is. Forget help from the staff members and even the classes/professors aren’t consistently good.
View moreBest Economics University in Portugal, elite in its education, entrepreneurship programs and seminars and state of-the-art installations.
For the short time I’ve attended, I’ve thoroughly enjoyed and appreciated it.
