UP Diliman provides excellent theoretical classes when it comes to teaching BS Civil Engineering.
Classes are conducted strictly adhering to literature but ultimately fails to provide a more holistic approach to preparing future graduates for the realities of work.
It can be said that the BS Civil Engineering course offered primarily caters to retaining students in the academe. There are no classes offered for at least a basic tutorial on using different CAD software. No tutorial on using industry-leading software to prepare students for employment. Everything is either developed from scratch or uses open-sourced software.
Facilities have also been upgraded but I don’t think they’re world class just yet.
Enrollment, as far as I know, still hasn’t been improved. Lack of instructors and classrooms still plague the Institute of Engineering, leading to students queuing in long lines to get a slot at a class that they need to enroll in.
University wide, the campus is beautiful but is in dire need of upgrade and maintenance. Security is also an issue as there are not enough visible University Police patrolling.
Students are also still complaining of outdated policies as well as an inhumane academic schedule.
